August WEN news recap

August is traditionally a quiet month at WEN while our courses and some of our regular groups take a summer break. To make the most of the unused space, this year we decided to open our doors to a younger audience by holding some events aimed at families looking for summer holiday activities.

Last month's activities included:
- Wirral Fox Rescue workshops
- Bee workshop
- Community litter pick with Seacombe Pride In Place
- Falkland Road Organic Growers
- Welcoming new members of the WEN team - Bex, Gabby and John

๐ŸŒ โ„ WEN Talk - 'Keeping Warm This Winter Shouldnโ€™t Cost the Earth'

Thursday 17th September, 6.30 pm
Wirral Environmental Network, Sandon Building, Falkland Road, Wallasey, CH44 8ER

Come to a FREE talk at WEN and learn how you could save money and energy on your heating bills this winter.

Dominic Griffiths from Energy Projects Plus will be returning to WEN to give our September talk with advice on preparing your home for the colder months ahead.

Dominic will give an update on the reasons for rising energy costs and speak about the practical steps you can take to reduce your bills and lessen your reliance on fossil fuels.

Learn how to be more resilient and energy efficient this winter when demand for home heating increases:

- What grants and schemes exist to help people make their homes warmer, and cheaper to run?
- Whatโ€™s the right temperature to set your room thermostat?
- What are the alternatives to burning fossil fuels in our homes?

Refreshments will be served after the talk.
