Energy Projects Plus

Energy Projects Plus Registered charity Energy Projects Plus (EPP) is committed to alleviating fuel poverty and reducing our impact on the environment.

Energy Projects Plus is an independent not-for-profit organisation and a registered environmental charity, formed in 1995. Our Objectives:

To advance the education of the public about energy efficiency and other environmental initiatives, including the alleviation of fuel poverty and the minimisation of waste produced by electricity generating stations through the promotion of energy efficiency.

We are a team of over 20 staff delivering front-line projects that include advice, awareness raising, training and education work, promotion and management of grants resulting in installation of energy efficiency and renewables measures. In addition, we develop policies and strategies related to energy use and fuel poverty, and undertake studies addressing issues that affect take-up of action by energy users.

🌿 Clean Air Day – 18th June

Air pollution is one of the biggest environmental health risks we face in the UK today – but there are simple, everyday actions we can all take to help make a difference.

Although we often can't see it, air pollution affects our health from before our first breath to our last and is linked to up to 43,000 deaths each year in the UK.

It's associated with a range of health problems throughout our lives:

👶 In childhood – it can contribute to low birth weight, asthma and reduced lung development.

🧍 In adulthood – it's linked to heart and lung disease, strokes and dementia.

👵 Later in life – it increases the risk of serious illness and premature death.

🚗 If you do need to drive, here are a few simple ways to reduce your impact:

✔️ Don't idle – Switch off your engine if you're stationary for more than a minute.

✔️ Check your tyres – Under-inflated tyres use more fuel and create more pollution.

✔️ Lighten the load – Remove heavy or unnecessary items from your boot to improve fuel efficiency.

✔️ Drive smoothly – Gentle acceleration and braking can reduce fuel use and emissions.

✔️ Plan ahead – Combine errands into one journey to cut down on multiple short trips.

🏡 Cleaner air starts at home too. Making your home more energy efficient can reduce energy waste and lower emissions. If you'd like free advice, get in touch with our team.
