We’re a local Branch of one of the UK’s largest friendly societies, the Oddfellows, which has over 200 years of experience of creating opportunities for people to meet up and make friends, as well as supporting its members in times of need. We’re a not-for-profit, mutual society, run by our members for our members. The Oddfellows is for everyone, from all walks of life and all ages. Membership to the Oddfellows costs £25 or £35 a year.*

Had a wonderful walk in the Autumn sunshine 🌞 today . The rain stopped and the sun shone thankfully! Lovely stroll with great views across the Mersey and most of all great company . Big thanks to Kath for leading out group

📚💜 Mersey Oddfellows Book Club! 💜📚

Today our lovely Book Club got together at Liverpool Central Library to discuss last month’s read, Brick Lane by Monica Ali.

It certainly brought out lots of different opinions around the table! 😄 And that’s what we love about Book Club — hearing everyone’s thoughts on the story, the characters and what worked (or maybe didn’t!) for each of us.

Our book for this month has been chosen by our Social Organiser, Angela… no pressure, Angela! 😂

📖 Three Things About Elsie by Joanna Cannon

We’re looking forward to getting stuck into this one and having another good chat next month!

Fancy joining our group of bookworms? 📚 We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 11am at Liverpool Central Library.

And even if you haven’t managed to read the book, come along anyway! It’s just as nice to have a cuppa, listen to everyone chat away and join in with the discussion.

Meet our member ... Irene! 💜

Irene has been a member for about seven years! We asked her why she joined Oddfellows and what she gets from being an Oddie!

💬 “My friend asked me to come along with her as she knew I liked to get out and about. I went to my first meeting and loved meeting new people and having a chat and a tea''.

“I do lots of other activities, including art classes and crocheting! Oddfellows is great because I can dip in and out and do as little or as much as I want.”

Irene has us all laughing with her funny tales and is always happy to have a good natter! We affectionately call her ‘SpiderWoman’ because she’s such a huge fan of spiders… she even has a tattoo of one! 🕷️😂

We love having you as part of our Oddfellows family, Irene! 💜

🍂 What a fantastic, busy Friendship Month we’ve had at Mersey Oddfellows! 💛

We loved hearing from Tina Saunders, the Queen’s Dressmaker, who shared wonderful stories about her life working for the Queen and Jimmy Choo! 👑

We also enjoyed walks with Richie the Ranger around Birkenhead Park and the streets of Liverpool, learning lots of new things about places we thought we already knew! 🚶‍♀️🌳

Alongside our usual friendly coffee get-togethers, our new Mersey Oddfellows booklets arrived, packed with the next six months of trips and activities. Our members have been busy filling their social calendars! ☕📅

Our lovely Secretary Margaret also celebrated her son’s wedding in September — congratulations to the happy couple! 🥂💐

Happy 1st October to all our members, and thank you for making September so special! 🍁
