Decolonise Fest Decolonise Fest is an annual DIY punk fest featuring music, art & workshops by punx of colour. Allies are welcome to attend. Please respect this.

We are the DIY Diaspora Punx and we are the collective behind Decolonise Fest, an annual DIY festival of music, art & workshops by and for punx of colour. We define Diaspora Punx as people who are descended (through one or both parents) from the original inhabitants of Africa, Caribbean, Asia, Middle East, Latin America, Australasia, North America, and the islands of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean. We want to celebrate all the brilliant diaspora punx that are creating right now, acknowledge our elders and the doors they opened for us, and make room for more punx of colour to take centre stage and make noise. The UK has seen a high rise in far right activity in the last few years. Operation Raise The Colours, which started in Birmingham, has started a grassroots movement to fly the St George's flags in neighbours and intimidate people of colour who live there. The Reform Party won 1,454 council seats in England in the May 2026 UK elections. In this panel we look at the ways we can all fight back against the rise in the far right, question whether the far right is really as strong as they seem, and consider what is driving the resurgence in racism and xenophobia today.

⛏ Panel: Land Back! Why We Need Land Justice, Food Sovereignty and Reparations, Sunday 4th October, 3pm-4pm

Hosted by Marcus Macdonald from Collective, and joined by Pamela Shor from Black Rootz, and Naomi Terry from Land in Our Names, this panel brings together people working across land justice, food justice, community gardening and reparations to explore how these issues are connected.

Taking into account the ongoing climate catastrophe, multiple genocidal colonial expansions, and an impending AI takeover, the panellists discuss why we need land more than ever for the revolution, the importance of community food growing and how reparations is not only about being resourced but to repair our connection to the land. We will also discuss what land and food justice mean in practice, how systemic racism has shaped our relationships to land, food and growing, and the different ways people of colour and the wider POC diaspora connect to land through culture, heritage, migration and community.

☀️ Solar Punk Zine Workshop - Sunday 4th October, 2pm-3pm

Join multidisciplinary artist and facilitator as they lead you through an imaginative solar punk zine collage workshop. Dream up solar punk worlds where people, nature, mycelium, water and all sorts of networks live and help each other in brilliant, creative ways.

Get stuck into collage, stencils, paint pens to make your own zines from A4 or A3 paper. You can also make your own tiny solar punk character or creatures to inhabit these imagined worlds from plasticine. This is a relaxed, creative workshop where you can join in at any point and enjoy a space for grounding and conversation.
