Man down - supporting men’s mental health We provide informal peer-support talking groups for men with mental health issues and concerns. Let's talk about it.

Man Down is a Cornwall based non-profit Community Interest Company supporting men's mental health. Together we can end the stigma and reduce the number of male su***des in Cornwall.

Don’t let your struggle become your identity.

It’s easy to become so consumed by what we’re going through that we start to define ourselves by it. We begin to see ourselves as our anxiety, our depression, our trauma or our struggles, rather than the person we are beyond them. But you are so much more than the things you’re battling.

Make time for yourself.

Pick up that hobby, get outside, move your body, reconnect with the things you enjoy and spend time with people who remind you of who you are.

Don’t allow your struggles to become the only story you tell yourself or others about who you are.

Your struggle is something you experience, not who you are. It may be part of your journey, but it doesn’t have to define your identity. With time, understanding, acceptance and the right support, you can learn to carry the difficult stuff without allowing it to consume every part of your life.

Remember, you are still you, even on the hardest days.

Your struggles may move through you, but they don’t have to become you.

A huge thank you to the Young Farmers in Probus for their incredibly kind fundraising efforts in support of Man Down.

It was a pleasure to visit and collect the cheque, and we’re extremely grateful for the support. Every penny raised helps us continue our work supporting men’s mental health and creating spaces where men can come together, talk, connect and feel less alone.

At Man Down, we’re proud to support our agricultural community because we understand the unique challenges many people within the industry face.

Isolation, financial pressures, unpredictable weather and the constant demands of farming can all take their toll on mental health. Behind the hard work and resilience, people can be struggling in silence, often feeling they have to just get on with it.

That’s why community, connection and having someone to talk to matter so much.

To everyone involved in raising money for us, thank you for thinking of Man Down and helping us continue the work we do. Your support genuinely makes a difference.

Stronger communities start with looking out for one another.

Thank you, Young Farmers of Probus.

Shame is a powerful thing.

Shame goes deeper than embarrassment. It’s not just feeling that you’ve done something wrong, it’s feeling that you are wrong. That something about you, your thoughts, your feelings or your struggles makes you less than you should be.

And that shame can keep us silent.

It can stop us from reaching out, opening up and connecting with others because we’re frightened of being judged, appearing weak or letting people see the parts of ourselves we try so hard to hide.

But struggling doesn’t make you weak. Having difficult thoughts and feelings doesn’t make you broken. And being vulnerable doesn’t make you any less of a person.

You don’t have to be ashamed of being human.

Sometimes, the very thing we’re most afraid to speak about is the thing that can help us feel less alone when we finally share it.

You don’t have to carry it all on your own. Talk. Connect. Reach out.

Because shame thrives in silence, but connection reminds us that we’re not alone.

When you’re struggling, isolating yourself can feel like the easiest option. Reaching out can feel like the hardest.

But connection matters. Talking helps. Sharing how you feel is the first step towards working through it.

You don’t have to face everything on your own.

Reach out.

Talk.

Connect.

We don’t want to minimise what you’re going through. We don’t want to dismiss your feelings with a throwaway comment like, “You’ll feel better tomorrow.” And we certainly don’t want to make promises about things we can’t guarantee.

But there is something important we want you to remember.

The way you feel right now isn’t necessarily the way you’ll feel forever.

Poor mental health can come in waves. Some days feel heavier than others. Sometimes, just getting through the day takes everything you’ve got.

But feelings can change. Circumstances can change. What feels unbearable today can, with time, support and the right help, begin to feel a little lighter.

You don’t need to have everything figured out today. You don’t need to pretend you’re okay when you’re not. And you don’t need to face it all on your own.

Sometimes, the goal isn’t to fix everything. It’s simply to get through today, take the next step and give yourself the chance to see what tomorrow brings.

We can’t promise you that tomorrow will be better. But we can remind you that today’s pain doesn’t define your future.

Keep going. Reach out. Talk to someone. Take it one day at a time.

There really can be better days ahead.

Eight years of changing lives, building connections and reminding men they don’t have to struggle alone.

What started as an idea to get men talking, to reduce the shame and stigma, has become something truly remarkable. And we’re only just getting started.

Cornwall, you really do make such a difference. 💛🖤

A huge thank you to our volunteers who have been down at the Eden Project | Cornwall, UK for World Mental Health Day, raising awareness of the work we do at Man Down.

It’s fantastic to see organisations from across Cornwall coming together, sharing their work, building connections and finding ways to support one another. Because when we work together, our collective impact is so much greater.

Cornwall is an incredibly supportive and generous community, and we never take that for granted.

Your support genuinely helps determine whether we can continue providing safe, supportive spaces for men across Cornwall.

So, to everyone who supports us, shares our posts, likes, comments, spreads the word and signposts men to our groups when they need us most , thank you ☺️

Every share, every conversation, every referral and every person who helps us reach another man matters more than you might realise.

Together, we can keep breaking down barriers, challenging stigma and reminding men that they don’t have to face things alone.

Let’s talk about it.

World Mental Health Day 2026

This years theme is based on👇🏻

Real lived experiences.
Real conversations.
Real voices.
Real change.

Today, we recognise the power of sharing our stories, listening without judgement, and creating spaces where people feel safe enough to be themselves.

At Man Down, we hear these conversations every single day. Across our groups, people share their real-life experiences, their struggles, their setbacks and their journeys forward. These are honest conversations between real people who understand what it feels like to face challenges that others might never see.

And that’s the power of lived experience. Sometimes, hearing someone else put into words what you’ve been feeling can change your perspective. It can help you realise you’re not alone, see your own circumstances differently, or find the courage to take that first step towards asking for help.

Real voices can break down stigma. Real conversations can change perspectives. And real experiences can change lives.

This World Mental Health Day, let’s keep talking, keep listening and keep making space for every story that needs to be heard.

Because sometimes, one conversation can change everything.

Let’s talk about it

Tache Up for Man Down

November is nearly here… so let’s grow some facial hair and Tache Up for Man Down! 🩵

We’re inviting you to make a commitment for the whole month of November. Grow a moustache, have a bit of fun, and raise some much-needed funds for Man Down.

It doesn’t matter whether you’ve got a full-on handlebar, a dodgy caterpillar or something that barely resembles a moustache 😂 it’s all about getting involved.

By taking part, you’ll be helping us continue our work supporting men, creating spaces where men can talk openly, connect with others and get the support they need.

Because behind the fun and facial hair is something serious: the male su***de rate remains far too high. We need to keep talking. We need to keep showing up. And we need to keep making sure men know they don’t have to struggle alone.

Want to get involved?

Head over to mandown.org, set up your own fundraising page and get growing!

It’s really easy to set up, really easy to share, and every donation helps us continue the work we do.

So come on lads… Tache Up! 🥸

Grow it. Show it. Talk about it.

Let’s have some fun, raise some money and, most importantly, keep the conversation going.

A single conversation can change everything.

We know that sometimes the embarrassment, shame and fear can feel like too much.

You can get stuck inside your own thoughts, replaying what’s happened and believing there’s no way forward.

But sometimes, all it takes is one simple conversation.

Talking about what’s happened.

Talking about how you feel.

Saying out loud the things you’ve been carrying alone.

That conversation can change the direction of your thoughts. It can bring perspective, release some of the weight and remind you that you don’t have to face it alone.

You don’t need to have all the answers.

You just need to start the conversation.

One conversation could change everything.

Let’s talk about it
