You’re invited to our Rabbit Care & Nutrition Talk 🐰

Join us on Wednesday 17th June 2026 at Shifnal Village Hall for an evening all about rabbit welfare and care.

📍 Shifnal Village Hall, Aston St, Shifnal TF11 8DW
🕖 Arrive from 7pm, with the talk starting at 7:30pm

Topics covered will include:
• Rabbit housing
• Nutrition
• Behaviour
• Health and wellbeing
• General rabbit care

The talk will be led by Connaught House Vets alongside Aneesha, Pet nutritionist and RWAF’s resident rabbit nutrition expert.

Aneesha is a qualified pet nutritionist with a decade of experience working in animal health. She holds multiple qualifications including Bioveterinary Science, the Registered Animal Medicine Advisor qualification (SQP) and has earned five additional qualifications in nutrition. Aneesha has spent 25 years caring for and rescuing rabbits, and she is passionate about improving their diet, health and welfare.

There will be a presentation, expert advice in line with RWAF and rabbit specialist veterinary guidance, plus free Burgess and RWAF literature available on the night.

A binky is that little jump, twist, kick, or zoom rabbits do when they’re feeling completely happy and full of life. It’s one of the clearest signs your bunny feels safe, confident, and excited.

You do not need to spend lots to keep your rabbits happy

Simple toys made from cardboard tubes stuffed with hay can provide hours of fun, encouraging your rabbits to dig, chew and forage just like they would in the wild.

Enrichment is a vital aspect of rabbit welfare. In the wild, rabbits spend a huge amount of their time foraging, so giving them opportunities to search for food and interact with their environment helps keep them mentally stimulated and active.

Without enough enrichment, rabbits can become bored and frustrated, which can impact both their behaviour and wellbeing.

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. Save those cardboard tubes, add some hay, and let your rabbits get busy 🐰🌿

As the weather warms up, a bit of planning now can make all the difference for your rabbits ☀️🐰

Rabbits struggle in the heat as they can’t sweat and rely on their ears and surroundings to stay cool. Even mild temperatures can become risky if their environment isn’t set up properly.

It’s not just about reacting on hot days. Preventative measures are key, so think ahead about where heat builds up in your home or garden and how you can reduce it. Shade alone isn’t enough, especially in enclosed spaces, so aim for a mix of shade, airflow and cooling options.

Heatstroke can develop quickly and is often fatal, so prevention really matters. Knowing the signs and acting fast could save your rabbit’s life.

Thinking about foraging for your rabbits? 🌿

Fresh forage can be a brilliant addition to your rabbits’ diet, but it is important to do it safely. Always make sure your rabbits are fully vaccinated and only pick plants from clean areas, well away from roads, sprays and dog traffic. Do not forget to give everything a good rinse before feeding 🐰

A Hutch Is Not Enough.

Rabbits need space to run, stretch up and explore every day, with housing that supports their natural behaviours, not limits them.

A hutch can play a role, but it should always be part of a much larger, enriched living area with rabbits having constant access to at least 3m x 2m of space, 1m high, all in one continuous area. Through this campaign, we’re working with retailers, vets and owners to raise standards and improve rabbit welfare together.
