We’re so excited to finally share something new… The Ground We Share.

A one-day gathering exploring land access, learning and community, hosted by WWOOF UK at Stepney City Farm.

At the heart of the day is a question we keep coming back to:
How do more people build a meaningful relationship with land when they do not own it?

On Saturday 4th July, we’ll be bringing together people and organisations interested in growing, volunteering, community food, land access and land-based learning.

We’ll explore the many routes into land, from volunteering to community growing, education, paid landwork, campaigning and starting growing projects of your own.

There will be a panel discussion, group conversations, time to meet others, and an optional activity with Stepney City Farm.

No farming or growing experience needed. Just curiosity, questions, and maybe shoes you don’t mind getting a bit muddy.

📍 Stepney City Farm, London
📅 Saturday 4th July 2026
⏰ 10:30am - 4:00pm
🎟 Free, booking required

What exactly makes for a very British WWOOF experience? 🧐

It is a question that has lingered, unanswered, for far too long, so we’ve taken it upon ourselves to investigate.

The findings include tea, drizzle, practical jobs, and a suspicious number of tasks that were meant to be quick.

P.S. Let us know which one feels most familiar.

Good news from the land, sea and skies 🌱

This month’s Grounded in Good News roundup brings together a few hopeful stories from the past few weeks, from oyster reef restoration in the Solent to the return of white-tailed eagles on Exmoor, and a river in the Midlands brought back from the brink.

Have a read through to put a smile on your face via the link in the comments, and if you’ve spotted any good news in your patch, send it our way!

Well… you lot did not make this easy!

A huge thank you to everyone who entered our merch competition 💚

We had loads of ideas sent in, from simple concepts to full designs, and it’s been such a nice reminder of how creative the WWOOF community really is.

We’ve now picked our top 5, and we’re sharing them here along with a Google form so the wider community can vote for their favourite. You’ll find the voting link below in the comments.

Thanks again to everyone who entered. We loved seeing what you came up with.

Now it’s over to all of you.

People often make a few assumptions about WWOOFing...

Thankfully, none of these are really true.

WWOOF can look very different depending on the person, the place, and the point they’re at in life. Some people arrive with loads of experience. Some have never grown a thing in their life. Some hosts are small farms, some aren’t, and no two places feel quite the same once you’re actually there.

Which is sort of the beauty of it.
