If you're having a clear-out, here are three quick tips to make sure your donations do the best for your local charity shops:
1. Clean & paired: Make sure clothes are freshly washed, and tie shoe laces or socks together so pairs don’t get separated in transit.
2. Gift Aid if you’re a UK taxpayer: If you’re eligible, signing up for Gift Aid at the till lets the charity claim an extra 25p for every £1 raised from your items—at no extra cost to you.
3. Quality over quantity: Good, wearable items are always in high demand and fly off the rails fastest!

Producing brand-new clothes takes an enormous amount of water and energy, yet so many great pieces end up sitting idle at home. The good news? Shifting how we look at our clothes doesn't take an overhaul of our whole lives—it starts right on our local doorstep.

Here are two simple ways to get involved this month:
🧺 Do a gentle wardrobe audit: Pull out the pieces that haven't seen daylight since last autumn. If you still love them, bring them to the front! If not, bag them up for your nearest charity shop so someone else can find their next favourite layer.
📍 Browse pre-loved first: Next time you fancy a new coat, boots, or an everyday layer for autumn, check out the local charity shops on your high street or browse online pre-loved platforms before buying brand new.
