THE ARTS SOCIETY is a national arts education and conservation charity with over 360 Societies in the UK, Europe and Australasia with almost 100,000 membe

rs and three societies in Taunton. It was previously known as NADFAS – National Association for Decorative and Fine Arts Society but has undergone a rebranding this year to The Arts Society. The ‘core business’ of societies is an annual programme of monthly lectures which bring together interesting people and brilliant lecturers to share their love of the Arts – painting, sculpture, architecture, antiques, jewellery, garden history and a host of other subjects to give a broad spectrum of arts education. The Arts Society accredited lecturers are nationally at the top of their field and face fierce competition to be accepted.
‘Study Days’, ‘Visits’, and ‘Volunteering’
The other important aspects of the charitable work of TAS members are Heritage Conservation, Church Recording, encouraging and sponsoring Young Arts and artists. An Area team, who also provide Study Days and annual arts courses, supports the 25 Societies in the South West Area. There are even holidays and short breaks organised with the arts at the heart of the trip.
