Last month, our Founding President and CEO, Dr Gilbert Ngwaneh Miki co-led a remarkable workshop on school meals in Africa as a part of the Research Consortium for School Health and Nutrition, an initiative of the School Meals Coalition with a Secretariat at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. This was an opportunity for science to converge with policy and practice...revealing the extraordinary power of school meals beyond the food on the plate.

*A Birthday That Can Change a Child's Future*

Every morning, I wake up with the same vision etched in my mind. It is as though an imaginary poster hangs on every wall of my home—a child holding a plate of food, alongside the words:

*"A society without classroom hunger, where no child has to learn on an empty stomach."*

For me, this is not just a slogan. It is a lifelong commitment to the generation we are raising.

It is also a vision that does not depend on foreign aid. It is a promise that our children can be nourished by their own people for their own future.

At Community Vision Group, our Nourish2Flourish Home-Grown School Feeding Programme is about much more than providing a meal. Every plate of food represents better education, improved nutrition, stronger health, support for local agriculture, social protection, and greater gender equity. These are the pillars upon which we are building stronger communities.

Since 2022, this vision has been sustained almost entirely through local generosity; not by people with abundance, but by ordinary individuals who believe today's children deserve a brighter, more productive, and more resilient future.

I still remember one of the first phone calls that inspired me. A volunteer medical doctor serving with us in Bamenda called and said:

*"Sir, this programme reminds me of my days in medical school, when I often struggled to find food for myself. I know what it means to be hungry at school. I'm sending 100,000 FCFA to feed these children."*

Before I could fully absorb that incredible act of kindness, another call came.

*"Sir, I can't feed one hundred children. But I have 500 FCFA. It can feed three children for one day."*

Those were the early days of Nourish2Flourish.

They were filled with moments that humbled us—people with so little choosing to give so much so that children they had never met could learn with dignity and hope.

Because of people like them, our journey has been extraordinary.

Between 2022 and 2025, we provided school meals to more than 1,300 children every week. In 2026, we reached a new milestone by serving 2,200 children every school day across 16 primary schools in Cameroon's North West Region.

To date, we have served more than 250,000 nutritious meals at a cost of just 150 FCFA (about US$0.30) per child per day.

It costs so little, yet its impact is immeasurable.

This is not charity. It is an investment in the future we believe in.

As we prepare for 2027, our commitment grows even stronger. We want to double our impact.

Our next goal is to provide nutritious school meals to 5,000 children every day.

This is not ambition for ambition's sake. It is our commitment to every child who deserves the chance to learn without hunger.

Over the past two months alone, our desks have been filled with heartfelt letters from teachers, head teachers and Parent-Teacher Associations. They thank us for restoring hope to their classrooms—but they also ask us not to stop. Alongside these are letters from communities requesting that the Nourish2Flourish programme be extended to their schools.

These voices keep us awake.

They remind us that there are still thousands of children waiting.

Thankfully, we are not alone.

Today, more people than ever believe in our dream of a hunger-free classroom.

That is why we are reaching out to you with our Campaign.

We invite you to dedicate your birthday to nourishing children through the Nourish2Flourish Programme.

Instead of receiving gifts, invite your family and friends to give the gift of a healthy school meal.

Over the past three years, nearly 500 people have dedicated their birthdays to Community Vision Group. Every birthday has translated into hope for countless children.

Imagine what could happen if thousands more joined this movement.

Will you dedicate your birthday in 2027 to help nourish a child, strengthen a classroom, and build a better Cameroon?

WORLD HEPATITIS DAY 2026

Today, as the world commemorates World Hepatitis Day, I join millions of advocates, health professionals, volunteers, and communities across the globe in reaffirming our commitment to eliminating viral hepatitis as a public health threat.

As the Founding President of Community Vision Group, I am proud to celebrate not only this year's theme but also the remarkable journey we have undertaken in Cameroon since the launch of our hepatitis programme in 2020.

Over the past six years, we have witnessed what is possible when communities are empowered, partnerships are nurtured, and volunteers are inspired by a shared vision. Together with our dedicated volunteers, local communities, healthcare providers, government institutions, and development partners, we have made meaningful strides in raising awareness, promoting hepatitis screening, strengthening community education, reducing stigma, and linking individuals to care.

Today, we celebrate these achievements.

We celebrate the unwavering support of the Government of Cameroon and our valued local and international partners, whose collaboration continues to strengthen our efforts.

We celebrate our incredible volunteers, whose selfless dedication and tireless community engagement have become the heartbeat of our movement. Their commitment reminds us every day that lasting change begins within communities.

We also celebrate the growing network of organisations, institutions, and individuals who continue to believe in our mission and invest in a future free from viral hepatitis.

Yet, our work is far from over.

Viral hepatitis continues to affect millions of people worldwide, many of whom remain unaware of their status. Too many lives are still lost to liver disease and liver cancer despite the availability of safe vaccines, effective treatments, and proven prevention strategies. The challenge before us is not simply scientific—it is one of awareness, access, political commitment, and sustainable investment.

This year's World Hepatitis Day reminds us that everyone has a role to play. Every conversation, every screening campaign, every vaccination, every policy decision, and every partnership brings us one step closer to eliminating hepatitis.

At Community Vision Group, we remain steadfast in our commitment to expanding community-led interventions, strengthening partnerships, supporting national efforts, and ensuring that no one is left behind.

Together, we are educating communities.

Together, we are reducing stigma.

Together, we are expanding access to testing and care.

Together, we are accelerating the journey towards a hepatitis-free Cameroon.

On this World Hepatitis Day, I encourage every Cameroonian to learn their hepatitis status, get vaccinated against hepatitis B if eligible, support those living with hepatitis, and become an advocate for healthier communities.

Together, we can eliminate hepatitis.

Together, we can save lives.

Together, we will build a healthier future for Cameroon.

Not Every Hungry Child Comes From a Poor Home.

Meet Ethan.

His parents are well-educated, financially stable, and deeply committed to providing the best for their family. But between demanding careers, business travel, and social and professional commitments, mornings are often rushed. Breakfast is skipped, lunch is missed, and Ethan's first proper meal of the day is usually after school.

The issue isn't a lack of food—it's a lack of time.

Over weeks and months, missed meals can mean missed opportunities to consume the vital micronutrients children need for healthy growth, brain development, and effective learning.

This is where school feeding fits in.
