Youth development charity supporting vulnerable 11-16yr olds in Wiltshire, Swindon and Somerset through outdoor education - get in touch and get involved!

The Youth Adventure Trust has been using outdoor adventure to inspire young lives for 30 years. In that time we have achieved some great things, but why do we do it? We believe that all vulnerable young people should have access to personal development opportunities so that they can fulfil their potential in the future. As part of that, we understand that learning in an outdoor environment is a key part of a young person’s development. Furthermore, we have seen how a long-term, early intervention, starting at age 11, successfully equips young people with the hope, confidence, skills and resilience that will last a lifetime. In the past 30 years we have inspired almost 2,000 vulnerable young lives. In that time, we have facilitated over 428,000 hours of activity participation including outdoor activities, music, arts, woodland and animation workshops - the equivalent of 39 hours per day every day for 30 years.

"I can do things if I put my mind to it and that it is always better to try than to not give it a go"

Our programmes offer all young people the chance to give things a go, to take a leap and try new activities as you never know where that may lead....

What a year our 2025-2026 group have been with so many adventures and such personal growth along the way. Reflecting on the mentoring year with young people and their parents, it’s always a privilege to see the progress that young people make over the 12 months on the Mentoring Programme, but also to recognise the trust that parents put into the process.

A huge thank you to all our parents for supporting us with this and enabling such transformation to happen 🤩

Heartfelt thanks to the members of Enborne 7906 for their incredible fundraising efforts in support of local charities and their generous donation to YAT!

Your support has already helped fund transformational activity days for 5 local young people this year, giving them the chance to build confidence, learn new skills and create lasting memories in the outdoors.

We are so grateful for your community spirit and dedication to making a difference - thank you!

Reflections, Celebrations and Adventures! Young people are joining their Activity Days and reflecting on their achievements. October marked the end of mentoring for some which was rounded off with a wonderful celebration event.

We’re highlighting some remarkable achievements! Read Max's story from Forest Camp and about our Housebuilder and Summit Under Stars events. Join us at our Adventure Dinner, where Kenton Cool and alumna, Casey, will share their personal journeys first-hand!

Last weekend saw the launch of another year of our Resilience Programme with a fantastic new group of young people coming together for the very first time.

With a variety of activities taking place at the scenic it was wonderful to see the group getting to know one another and friendships beginning. This is just the start of a year-long programme where they will experience new activities, overcome challenges and build their resilience.

We can't wait to see them again next month!
