Competitive rated chess does need a bit of quiet. But if you like a more social chatty game why not come along to The Abbey Meads for a game.

First and third Tuesdays of the month. Up at the corner to the left of the bar. Our "chess & chat" sessions can give you a few games with some of our members and with others who come along. These sessions are free, just bring your best tactics and give it a go.

A bit of a chat, a pint, and shuffle some pieces around the board. Who knows you might get into the groove and try the competitive side.

35th Frome Congress draws to a close, a spread of results from The Swindon Chess Club, a few good places; in the top 3 and just outside on the various divisions.

Thanks to our hosts at Frome and Trowbridge Chess clubs for organising a fabulous tournament in a great location and some awesome catering. I'm sure a few were on the verge of a satisfied doze this afternoon during the last match after the Sunday roast for lunch. 😂🤣

Looking forward to next year already.
