Voluntary Action Swindon is a charity that helps other charities. We support the local community and voluntary sector.

Voluntary Action Swindon (VAS) is the Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) in Swindon. A CVS is a charity which supports other charities and coordinates voluntary activity in the local area, as opposed to a frontline charity which supports individuals directly. A CVS is also a forum through which local voluntary and community organisations and statutory sector organisations can communicate with each other and work together. VAS offers a wide variety of services and support to the local voluntary and community sector. This includes advice on fundraising and governance, printing services, DBS checks and room/equipment hire. VAS runs or helps to administer several of the major networks and projects in Swindon’s voluntary and community sector, including Swindon Sports Forum, Swindon Equality Coalition, Swindon Advice & Support Centre, Involve Swindon, Swindon Fundraisers Network, and Swindon Community Centres Network. VAS is based on John Street in the town centre. Our building also houses Volunteer Centre Swindon.

Last Wednesday we hosted our AGM at Sanford House, featuring a Camerados Public Living Room in reception for everyone to sit, have a chat, and enjoy a cake or a flapjack!

This was a great AGM thanks to the hard work of VAS staff, and we thank everyone who took their time to attend on the day.

Just over a week ago, Pooja Tomar, our amazing Funding & Governance Manager and VCSE Integrated Care Strategic Lead represented VAS at the September Swindon Health and Wellbeing Board meeting.

This was to help show community voice and qualitative insights within the area of North Swindon - Pinehurst, Penhill and Moredon.

This shows us how important that community voice is, which we can draw from activities we host at VAS.

What a fantastic day!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Camerados event in Highworth Market Town. It was wonderful to see so many people getting involved, connecting with others and enjoying the day together.

Events like this are all about community, friendship and looking out for one another.
Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, supported us and helped make the event happen. We couldn’t have done it without you!
