Voluntary Action Swindon (VAS)

Voluntary Action Swindon (VAS) Voluntary Action Swindon is a charity that helps other charities. We support the local community and voluntary sector.

Voluntary Action Swindon (VAS) is the Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) in Swindon. A CVS is a charity which supports other charities and coordinates voluntary activity in the local area, as opposed to a frontline charity which supports individuals directly. A CVS is also a forum through which local voluntary and community organisations and statutory sector organisations can communicate with eac

h other and work together. VAS offers a wide variety of services and support to the local voluntary and community sector. This includes advice on fundraising and governance, printing services, DBS checks and room/equipment hire. VAS runs or helps to administer several of the major networks and projects in Swindon’s voluntary and community sector, including Swindon Sports Forum, Swindon Equality Coalition, Swindon Advice & Support Centre, Involve Swindon, Swindon Fundraisers Network, and Swindon Community Centres Network. VAS is based on John Street in the town centre. Our building also houses Volunteer Centre Swindon.

Last Thursday, we attended the Swindon Health and Wellbeing Board Development Session to discuss the health challenges in Parks.

During this session, Carol Willis our CEO at VAS, delivered a great presentation around community voice and the data we have collected to see what supports and impacts resident health.

This session has helped us to continue advocating and champion the priorities for the Parks area using real life statistics and community voices.

Chris Offord, our Veteran Support Navigator, met with Cllr Leanne Stevenson to discuss the OP Valour Recognised Support Centres Development Fund last week.

This is a very important funding opportunity for Swindon due to our connection with the Armed Forces, and we are eager to gain support for this.

Thank you to Councillor Leanne Stevenson for taking the time to meet with us, we are extremely appreciative at VAS for this!

Lets answer some popular questions about volunteering this Volunteers Week!

Volunteering is always something positive no matter how long you volunteer for, where you do it, or how you do it. Taking your time to volunteer is one of the most rewarding things you can do, both for yourself and for an organisation.

If you are a volunteer, your support is greatly appreciated, and we thank you for your dedication!

If you have more detailed questions, we are here to help. Email [email protected] for answers!
