We’re incredibly grateful to Zurich Community Trust for their generous support and for recognising the vital role unpaid carers play.
Thank you for helping us make such a meaningful difference!
🎄 On the 13th day of Festive Thanks, we're celebrating Swindon Carers Centre!
Today we’re highlighting the incredible work of Swindon Carers Centre, a charity dedicated to supporting unpaid carers of all ages in Swindon.
They provide emotional and practical support, from 1:1 conversations and benefits advice to respite activities, training, and peer groups. Their mission is simple: to help carers feel recognised, valued, and supported, reducing isolation and improving wellbeing.
Lauren Sharp, Communications and Marketing Manager, shared these lovely words about our partnership:
"Through Zurich’s generous support, Swindon Carers Centre has been able to make a real difference to carers whose cared for are living with dementia. We’ve provided meaningful opportunities for connection, respite, and learning - helping carers to feel less isolated and more supported in their vital role. Our groups included the Dementia Peer Support Group, Open Minds Entertainment Afternoon, Walk & Talk at Lydiard Park, PATH Bereavement & Love and Loss Groups, and training sessions on First Aid, Dementia, Wills, and Power of Attorney.
Beyond group activities, we also provide 1:1 support, welfare and benefits advice, and operate our Support Line. These services combat isolation, improve mental health, and foster meaningful peer connections.
One carer shared, “The brief respite I experienced, with my wife entertained and enjoying the activities, improved her mood for the rest of the day.” Another added, “Being part of a group which understands what you are going through can you give you a lot of support and pull you out of some really dark places. It lovely to chat, have a laugh, and forget for a short while the reason you are there. I am not sure where I would be without a group like this as the companionship, support and new friends is a lovely place to be”.
What wonderful words! Thanks, Swindon Carers Centre, for being such a fabulous charity partner!
