Swansea Women’s Aid is an organisation which supports women who are affected by domestic abuse. What is Domestic Abuse? I.P.S.

Women’s Aid defines domestic abuse as the misuse of power and control by one individual over another within a close relationship. Although the majority of abuse is directed by men against women, it can and does occur in le***an relationships. The perpetrators of domestic abuse are not limited to a woman’s partner or ex partner; it can include brothers, fathers, cousins, uncles, mothers, sisters, in-laws etc…

Swansea Women’s Aid workers have specialist knowledge on issues related to domestic abuse and how it can affect the lives of women and children.

Prevention and education

As a specialist domestic abuse agency, Swansea Women’s Aid is able to design and deliver bespoke training packages to meet the needs of your organisation. We welcome all opportunities to raise awareness of domestic abuse and can deliver talks and presentations to community and social groups adapted to suit the audience. 💛 Could you spare a little time to support our evening outreach service?

We’re looking for a volunteer to help keep our evening outreach service running!

We need someone to collect a food donation from Swansea city centre and deliver it to our building, also located in the city centre.

🕔 When: Thursdays, between 5pm and 5:30pm.

🚗 Transport: Access to a car would be helpful but isn’t essential, as the donation only needs to travel a short distance.

Even if you can only help out one Thursday a month, your support would make a real difference!

🌊 Wild Women’s October Swim was a special one!💙

For some of our Wild Women, it was the final swim of their ‘Dip a Day in October’ challenge for Surfers Against Sewage – a huge well done to everyone who showed up, rain or shine, to raise money for such a brilliant cause! 👏💪

As the sea gets colder, it’s lovely to have a group of women to share those chilly dips with! 🥶🌊

We're delighted to be partnering with Connect to Work on the first Tuesday of each month to offer free career development drop-in session for survivors of domestic abuse.

Next drop-in: Tuesday 3rd Nov, 10am - 11:30am.

Join us for personalised support with:

✅ Identifying your strengths and skills
✅ Finding jobs that match your goals
✅ Connecting with employers
✅ Creating a personalised action plan

White Ribbon Day is an opportunity for all of us to stand together and help end violence against women and girls.

Our coffee mornings are for survivors of VAWDASV (Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence).

🍓 Wednesday 4th November – Sweet Treat Creations
Come along and get creative with sweet treat creations, making delicious and healthy treats to take home!

🪔 Wednesday 11th November – Glass Bottle Lamps
Join us for a crafty morning creating beautiful glass bottle lamps with local artist Ray Barry.

🧘‍♀️ Wednesday 18th November – Sound Healing and Meditation
Lowri from will host a calming and meditative morning of meditation and sound healing, leaving you feeling rejuvenated, relaxed and grounded.

🎄 Wednesday 25th November – Christmas Tree Decorating
Artist Ray Barry will guide us in making beautiful Christmas tree decorations! We will be using some of our creations to decorate the Swansea Women's Aid Christmas Tree at the Minster Christmas Tree Festival!

💜BUILD CONFIDENCE. LEARN SELF-DEFENCE. FEEL EMPOWERED. 💜

We are offering a FREE 6-week beginner-friendly self-defence course for female survivors of VAWDASV (violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence).

This course is an opportunity to learn practical skills in a supportive environment, helping you to feel more confident in recognising and responding to potentially unsafe situations.

✨ Across the six weeks, you'll learn about:
💜 Understanding and maintaining personal boundaries
💜 Recognising risks and finding ways to move away from unsafe situations
💜 Practical self-defence techniques
💜 Building confidence, strengthening decision-making and trusting your instincts

Our aim is to help you feel more confident, capable and empowered, both physically and emotionally.
