We’re sharing SAFEENA / THE BOAT, a reflection shaped in a recent wellbeing session at EYST Wales.

Refugee Week reminds us that behind every headline are people and families forced to leave home when safety is no longer possible.

As a Nation of Sanctuary, we hold their courage and hope together as a community.

In light of the recent rise in far‑right racist violence and targeted attacks, we encourage everyone to check in with one another.

Many ethnic minority colleagues and communities are experiencing fear and uncertainty. At EYST, we are receiving a high volume of reports across Wales, highlighting the seriousness of what people are facing.

This is a safeguarding issue and a shared responsibility.

We must name racism for what it is, not minimise it, and ensure it is properly recorded and acted on.

Please:
✔ Check in with colleagues and service users
✔ Acknowledge what is happening
✔ Offer reassurance and support

Remember:
Do not confront unsafe situations
Report all incidents:

📞 999 – Emergency
📞 101 – non-emergency
🕵️ Crimestoppers: 0800 555111
🤝 EYST can support and report on your behalf

This is a time for care, courage, and solidarity. Let’s stand together and keep our communities safe.
