Yesterday evening a dog that was not on a lead fell down the cliff near the gate on the path down to Worms Head.
The brave Cliff Rescue teams from Rhossili Coastguards CRT and HM Coastguard - Mumbles were involved, lowering a member down to the dog that was stuck on a ledge and then lowering it safely down to the beach. Thankfully, this time it survived.
We were not involved with this rescue, but we regularly advise visitors with dogs off the lead in our area of the dangers to their pets. Mostly people thank us for our advice, but sadly, others do not, saying their dogs are under control. But we have seen dogs over the cliff in our area. Mostly our dogs are a big part of our families and it must be horrendous to witness this happening. Keep your dogs on leads please.

Its Volunteers week in the UK.
As you probably all know, every single person in the National Coastwatch Institution is a volunteer, from the highest person in charge to the newest trainee. We receive no UK Goverment financial aid, we rely almost entirely on the general public to fund the running of our 60 odd stations around the UK. We are there every single day of the year to help keep the public safe on our shores and at sea.
Call into our station at NCI Worm's Head and see what we do and how you can help us by donating.

Friday photo.
Our daytime views are stunning and known the world over.
But here is a night view that is really unspoilt, thanks to the darkness of our area on the tip of Gower.
