Royal Horticultural Society 'Britain in Bloom' Finals 2026

NBIB are delighted and proud to announce that we have won a gold medal and the overall Coastal category in the UK wide competition. After winning the Rose Bowl in 2025, the highest award of 'Keep Scotland Beautiful', we were one of three Scottish entries privileged to compete in the UK finals. It is a fitting and welcome reward for the NBIB volunteers who enjoy working and caring for our town - making it look beautiful throughout the year. We were very pleased that Gus Campbell from East Lothian Council Amenity Team and nursery manager was at the ceremony to help celebrate the successes of the Scottish teams, including Haddington who competed in the Town category and who also won a Gold Medal.

All of the volunteers would like to sincerely thank East Lothian Council Amenities Department and every one of the many community groups, organisations, businesses and individuals in North Berwick who work with and support us in so many ways. This award is for us all!

Many congratulations to Haddington, Kirkconnel and Cardross who won a special award for the best station in the UK

Stirling Stewart, The Lobster Shack owner, was honoured to present today a donation cheque to Libby, Chair of North Berwick in Bloom.

A huge thank you to Libby and all the dedicated volunteers for everything they do to keep our town looking so beautiful year-round. North Berwick wouldn’t be the same without you!

Some pictures from a busy day yesterday for NBIB and some of the many people who helped to get the town ready for the visit of the judges from Britain in Bloom.
This year North Berwick is representing Scotland in the coastal town category, and we were delighted to welcome Ian and Brendan to the town. Starting at the Sea bird centre, they visited the Harbour, the Lodge, High Street, Station and the Glen and met lots of volunteers from the many community groups who work so hard to make the town look great. The town was looking its best today with blue skies and sunshine - we couldn’t have asked for more! Thank you to Ian and Brendan, also Johnn Stevens and Gus Campbell from ELC Amenity team and the many volunteers and supporters who were part of the day.

A busy morning at the railway station for our volunteers, updating the 18 planters on the platform. Thanks to Gus from the ELC plant nursery at Port Seton, the tubs are now filled with lots of summer colour. The judges will be visiting the town on Wednesday 5th August and will meet all the members of NBIB watering team at the station. They are out watering every day, checking the baskets and the planters and making sure that they are in tip top condition.

It looks as if someone has cut the wire on the lodge Aviary. Please look out for any unusual birds that have escaped as they are unable to survive in the wild.
