The Angels Foundation UK

The Angels Foundation UK We’re a Cambridgeshire-based domestic abuse charity providing practical help, counselling and community-based activities to help survivors rebuild their lives.

Registered Charity: 1205725. The Angels Foundation UK is a registered charity 1205725 (formerly known as The Property Angels Foundation CIC) which supports families who have fled domestic abuse throughout Huntingdonshire. Our purpose is to bring comfort and hope to families fleeing domestic abuse, providing families with furniture, flooring, home comforts and social introductions to the community

, through our 'Back to Life' support project. You would think that the challenges facing families would end once they leave their abuser, but unfortunately, they don’t.

• 98% of social housing allocated to survivors of domestic abuse have no flooring, no white goods, no furniture
• 95% of domestic abuse survivors have experienced financial abuse, with no funds to provide basic household items
• 50% of domestic abuse survivors don’t have enough money for essentials for their children

Not having items such as beds, or a fridge - basic items they need to look after their family - is a significant contributor to why women feel they have no choice, but to return to an abusive perpetrator. Integral to the support we give families affected by domestic abuse, is that they understand their community haven’t forgotten about them, that they aren’t alone, and that people care about them. What We Do

• Signpost individuals in need of support to qualified professionals specialising in domestic abuse.
• Our 'Back to Life Support Project' helps families who have fled domestic abuse in their hour of need by sourcing items for their home, such as white goods, flooring and furniture.
• Social activities for emotional well-being and peer support, such as the monthly Angel Walk and Talks, coffee mornings and weekly support groups.
• Providing 12 weeks free counselling and group therapy through The Angels Foundation UK Counselling and Therapy Services. Our aim is to bring hope, helping families rebuild their lives by giving them a comfortable and safe place to start from.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Brunning as a Trustee of The Angels Foundation UK.

Following a distinguished policing career spanning more than 30 years, including serving as Assistant Chief Constable, Martin has spent his professional life supporting people affected by crime, trauma and harm. Throughout his career, he championed the needs of victims and survivors, while leading work to improve wellbeing and support for police investigators and staff nationally.

Now retired from policing, Martin has chosen to continue that commitment to public service by supporting survivors of domestic abuse through The Angels Foundation UK.

Martin said: "The Foundation creates an extraordinary sense of hope for people, and that's what I set out to do throughout my policing leadership. Joining The Angels Foundation is a natural next step for me."

As a charity, we know that recovery from domestic abuse takes more than simply reaching safety. Through practical support, counselling and help overcoming furniture poverty, we work alongside survivors as they rebuild their lives. We're excited to welcome Martin's experience, compassion and leadership as we continue expanding that support across Cambridgeshire.

Please join us in welcoming Martin to The Angels Foundation UK.

There's something special about receiving flowers.

This weekend, thanks to a wonderful chain of generosity, we were able to share these beautiful blooms with some of the women we support.

The flowers were originally supplied by Emily Tallulah for a Tropic Biosciences event, organised by Elle Events Management. Rather than letting them go to waste once the event had finished, Elle Events Management donated them to The Angels Foundation UK so they could continue bringing joy to others.

It's a simple gesture, but one that means so much. For many of the women rebuilding their lives after domestic abuse, receiving something beautiful and unexpected can be a reminder that people care and that their community is thinking of them.

Thank you to everyone involved for helping these flowers continue their journey and brighten someone's day.

Earlier this month, a representative from The Angels Foundation attended the opening event at Buckden Botanicals, a new wellness space at Buckden Marina.

The visit was a great opportunity to meet the team, hear more about their plans, and experience some of the therapies that will be available when they open fully.

At the Angels Foundation, we know how important wellbeing and recovery can be for the women we support as they rebuild their lives after domestic abuse. That's why we value opportunities to connect with local organisations that share a commitment to supporting people and strengthening communities.

We're grateful for the warm welcome and look forward to staying in touch as their journey continues.

Just 12 spaces remain for our Summer Solstice Wellbeing Afternoon.

On 21st June, we'll be opening the doors of the beautiful Island Hall in Godmanchester for an afternoon designed especially for women supported by us.

We know that life can feel busy, overwhelming and demanding. This afternoon is an opportunity to press pause for a few hours, spend time with other women in a safe and supportive environment, and focus on yourself.

Through creativity, movement, relaxation and connection, we hope to create a space where women can simply be, without expectation, pressure or judgement.

We're incredibly grateful to Island Hall for giving this experience to our Angels, and to everyone helping make the day possible.

If you've been thinking about coming along, now is the time to book. With 12 places remaining, we'd love to see those final spaces filled by women who could benefit from an afternoon of calm, connection and self-care.

Last week, our CEO, Caroline, met with members of The Hemingfords WI to talk about the work of The Angels Foundation UK and the support needed in the aftermath of domestic abuse.

While leaving an abusive relationship is a significant and courageous step, the reality for many survivors is that rebuilding everyday life can be just as challenging. Creating a safe home, regaining independence, and re-establishing stability all take time and practical support.

We are grateful that members took the time to listen so openly and engage with such care and interest. Conversations like this help deepen understanding of what recovery really involves and the role communities can play in supporting it.

One of the things we often talk about at The Angels Foundation is that leaving an abusive relationship is not the end of the story. In many ways, it's the beginning of a new chapter.

That's why we're so pleased to share that the second cohort of our Skylark programme launched last week.

Skylark is designed for women who have already reached safety and are now thinking about what comes next. Through psychoeducation, practical tools, and a supportive community of women who understand, the programme helps participants rebuild confidence, recognise their own strengths, and start shaping the future they want for themselves.

We're incredibly grateful to the Police and Crime Commissioner for supporting this work, and we're looking forward to seeing what this latest group of women achieve over the coming weeks.

During Volunteers’ Week, we want to recognise the people who give their time to support The Angels Foundation UK.

Our volunteers are part of the practical, day-to-day work that helps survivors of domestic abuse rebuild after leaving unsafe situations.

Some support our referrals process, helping make sure families are matched with the right essential items as quickly as possible. Others are part of our collections and delivery team, helping move donated furniture into homes that are often completely empty when people arrive. We also have volunteers supporting us with governance, admin and communications, all helping a small team keep up with growing demand.

One of our volunteers shared that being part of this work is rewarding because it means a family can begin to feel safe, settled and not alone in that first difficult step.

That is what volunteering here looks like. Practical support that helps turn empty spaces into homes.

We’re grateful to every person who gives their time to make that possible.
