🎉 THANK YOU, QUEENSFERRY! 🎉

On Saturday 30th May, we held our Ferry Fun Fundraiser at The Priory Church Gardens and Garden Room.

Thanks to the incredible support of our local community, volunteers, parents, friends, and local businesses, we are delighted to announce that we raised an amazing ÂŁ680.40 in just two hours!

Visitors enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of games, raffles, face painting, treasure hunts, sweet guessing competitions, book and toy stalls, bake sales, and of course the opportunity to take out some revenge in the ever-popular "Soak the CO" challenge.

A special highlight was seeing our cadets take ownership of the event, from creating the wonderful handmade promotional poster to running stalls and engaging with members of the public throughout the afternoon.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the local businesses who generously donated raffle prizes:

Forth Boat Tours
The Ferry Tap
Scotts - South Queensferry
Thirty Knots
Hawes Inn
Istanbul Barber 3
Grooming by Tori at The Little Pad

We are also incredibly grateful to PPO Warmington, our XO, our Chaplain, volunteers, parents, supporters, and everyone who donated, attended, baked, helped set up, packed away, or bought a raffle ticket.

Every penny raised will help us continue providing life-changing opportunities, training, adventure, and experiences for young people in South Queensferry.

Thank you for helping us make the day such a success!

Well done to the cadets and volunteers from across our Sea, Marine, and Junior divisions who supported the Cancer Research UK Race for Life at Hopetoun House last weekend.

A little cooler than it is today, the team encouraged participants across the finish line as well as handing out medals for finishers.

Queensferry Sea & Royal Marines Cadets

We are a local youth organisation helping young people aged 10–18 build confidence, develop skills, and take on new challenges.

Through structured training, leadership opportunities, and hands-on activities, cadets gain real experience — not just something to pass the time.

We parade twice a week here in Queensferry and welcome both new cadets and adult volunteers looking to get involved.

Whether you’re a parent exploring opportunities for your child, or someone considering volunteering, we’re here to help you take that first step.

âš“ Spring at TS Lochinvar

In April, we were proud to welcome Mr J. Martin and members of the West Lothian Branch of the Royal Naval Association to our Ceremony of Divisions. Their presentation of a commemorative shield recognises the strength of the relationship between the RNA and Queensferry — a connection that links our cadets with those who have served before them.

That sense of progression has been clearly visible across the ship’s company.

Cadet J. Watson advanced from New Entry Cadet to Cadet, building on prior experience from the Junior section and completing the remaining elements required for advancement.

S. Gray and A. Quinn have both moved up from Junior Cadets into the Sea Cadet section as NEC's — an important step as they begin the next stage of their development within the unit.

Within the Junior section, H. Smith was advanced to Leading Junior Cadet, taking on the role of senior junior within the section, and was also awarded his Blue Badge. K. Smith advanced to Able Junior Cadet and achieved her Blue Badge, reflecting continued commitment and progress.

Beyond the unit, our Royal Marines Cadets undertook a demanding training weekend with Yankee Company at Barry Buddon Training Area, operating in challenging conditions and developing resilience, teamwork, and fieldcraft. Not even Storm Dave put them off. BZ!

Cadets were also given the opportunity to visit HMS Queen Elizabeth ahead of her upcoming deployment — a valuable insight into the modern Royal Navy and the wider context of their training.

Alongside this, the ship’s company supported the local community during the Priory Church Easter event, delivering activities for families and representing the unit with enthusiasm and professionalism.

With a number of Junior Cadets now progressing into Sea Cadets, the unit continues to move forward — creating space for new starters to come aboard and begin their own journey.

⚓ If you’re looking to join something structured, challenging, and genuinely worthwhile, now is a great time to get involved.

BZ to our very own volunteer CPO Tavern who completed the Chief Petty Officer’s board over the weekend.

Our existence relies solely on volunteers giving up their time to deliver the cadet experience. If you’ve ever thought about it, even if you haven’t… it’s worth it.

With flexible volunteering options both in and out of uniform, you might have something you can bring to the table across our various functions.

Areas such as;

Sea Cadets - Uniformed & Civilian roles
Royal Marine Cadets - Uniformed roles
Junior Sea Cadets - Civilian roles

An evening with.... West Lothian AFD

A small group of our cadets and volunteers attended a West Lothian Armed Forces Day event at Howden Park Centre this week.

Representing all three of our unit divisions, they represented the unit brilliantly throughout the evening — a real credit to themselves and Queensferry!

They had the chance to hear some powerful stories, meet members of the Armed Forces and veterans community, and spend time with the Lord Lieutenant of West Lothian and the Lord Lieutenant's Cadet. Experiences like this are what cadet life is all about.

If you’ve ever been curious about what we do, either as a cadet or an adult volunteer, this is a great example of the opportunities available. Just message or email [email protected] to find out more.

Well done to everyone involved 👏

🎄 Our Christmas Message to you.

As we reach the end of the year, Queensferry Sea & Royal Marines Cadets would like to wish our local community, supporters, partners, and families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

2025 has been another busy and rewarding year for our unit, with our cadets continuing to learn new skills, build confidence, and take part in activities that challenge and inspire them — all supported by the commitment of our volunteers and the encouragement of the wider community.

We are grateful to everyone who has supported us throughout the year, whether through partnership, encouragement, fundraising, or simply by taking an interest in the opportunities available to young people locally.

The unit is now stood down for the Christmas period and will resume activities in the New Year. We look forward to continuing our work in 2026, providing a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for young people to thrive.

Until then, we wish everyone a peaceful Christmas and all the very best for the year ahead.

🎄 A fantastic weekend supporting the 25th Anniversary Hopetoun House Christmas Shopping Fair! 🎄

A huge thank you to Hopetoun House for inviting us back again this year, and for the wonderful acknowledgement in their post below. Our cadets and volunteers were proud to play their part across the weekend, assisting with parking, supporting visitors, and representing TS Lochinvar with real commitment and enthusiasm.

We’re also delighted to share that thanks to the generosity of the public, we raised:

đź’™ ÂŁ1,005.90 đź’™
—all of which goes directly towards creating opportunities and experiences for our young people here in South Queensferry.

Thank you to Hopetoun House, the event team, and everyone who attended.
BZ to all cadets and staff involved! ⚓✨
