Our June running day on Saturday marks the start of Ickenham Festival . So come along. Why not combine with lunch at The Coach and Horses and drop into the village hall for an exhibition on the history of Ichenham

People often ask us what goes on between our running days.. Well this week we are undertaking some track improvements on both the miniature railway and our garden railway in readiness for our June running day on 6 June and our Open Day on 14 June - the final day of Ickenham Festival .

After many years of enjoying attending the Ickenham Fair, Walter Hughes of Oak Avenue, Ickenham, built his models of it during the early 1900s. In January 1924 he exhibited them at the Model Engineer Exhibition in London.
The fair itself was held until 1935 and can be said to be the origins of the Ickenham Festival.
Morris Hughes, Walter's brother, wrote the book 'The Story of Ickenham' in 1983 so between them they made sure our history was not lost.
Having been in a loft for many years the models were donated to Ickenham & District Society of Model Engineers by Walter's grandson in 2021.
The Fair was restored to working order and exhibited at the Ickenham Residents Association centenary celebrations in 2024.
You can see it operating again during this year's Festival, at the Village Hall on Saturday 13th June, and on our site behind the Coach & Horses P.H. on the following day, when the garden railway will be available to view.

We are not just about our Miniature Railway. Last weekend we took our club layout Swakeleys to the South West Herts model railway show.

Thank you to everyone who came to Ickenham Miniature Railway last Saturday. 834 passengers were carried which was exactly the number carried last May as well. I wonder if it was the same 834?
Next on our Agenda is the Ickenham Festival, we hope to see you all there. Meanwhile, this little loco is having its steam test; hopefully you will be able to see it in action on our garden railway.

Those of you that came to our April running day will have seen we are replacing the signalbox at "Khazi Junction". Come down on Saturday 2 May to see progress and give our signalmam a wave as you pass... We open at Midday. Rides just £1.00.
