It’s already been one week but we’re still processing the incredible evening that we had last Friday at the Hillingdon Women’s Centre 40th Anniversary Gala.

We had many contributions from event sponsors to guest speakers to raffle donors who helped make the night a success. We can’t thank them enough for their role in creating a beautiful atmosphere as we marked this important milestone in the charity’s history.

Event photos from the incredible will soon follow, but in the meantime join us in thanking all of our wonderful contributors and partners.

The UK government has just launched a renewed Women’s Health Strategy for England (15 April 2026)

A 10‑year plan to fix how women are treated in the NHS, from heavy periods and endometriosis to fibroids and menopause.

Key things that matter for you:
• Faster, better pathways for heavy periods, endometriosis and fibroids.

• Stronger focus on women’s voices and whether NHS money should be redirected when care is poor.

• Tougher standards on pain relief during gynaecological procedures after women’s pain has been dismissed.

• A £1 million programme to improve menstrual education so girls know when “bad periods” mean something serious.

• Menopause questions now in the NHS Health Check for adults 40–74, so more women get support sooner.

Everyone wish us a happy birthday! 🥳

Hillingdon Women’s Centre celebrates its official 40th anniversary today, 10th April.

What started as a collective of women in the borough meeting in each other’s homes, has become a staple of the community where we support hundreds of women each year.

We are so proud of our growth and evolution over the last four decades, especially in the face of many different challenges.

Our 40th anniversary gala is nearly sold out and sales close on Tuesday, 14 April so be sure to buy your tickets ASAP. You can also buy raffle tickets for a chance to win some fab prizes (you don’t need to attend the event to participate).

While we are grateful to have come so far, the work we do must continue and we need the support of our community now more than ever.

Visit the link in our bio to donate and help secure the future of HWC.

Here’s to another 40 years of supporting women 🩷💛💜

We are writing to express our deep concern over the continued funding gap for lifesaving domestic abuse services, evidenced in the recent ‘Freedom from Violence and Abuse’ Strategy, and the serious implications this has for survivors fleeing abuse.

Pathways to Healing is moving online!

Our Domestic Abuse recovery programme is getting a bit of an update for the upcoming March cohort, with all sessions taking place online!

The programme will also be delivered over 4 weeks instead of 6, so it’s ideal for those who have wanted to particpate but have not been able to attend in-person or required a shorter time commitment.

Sessions begin next week but there’s still time to sign up! Give us a call or email [email protected] to register.

Friendly reminder - this programme is designed for women who are no longer living or in close contact with their abuser. We appreciate your understanding.

Hillingdon Women’s Centre is the winner of £1000 from First Give, all thanks to Eden Girls School, Slough!

🎉

Toward the end of last year we were asked to do a presentation for Year 8 students at Eden Girls School, as they had chosen to raise awareness and conduct social action activities for HWC. This was part of a programme with First Give, a charity that works in secondary schools to inspire young people to make a positive change in society.

At the end of the programme, students deliver presentations on their chosen charities, where an independent judging panel decides the winning group, awarding the charity with £1000 from First Give. Well a few weeks ago, we were invited back to the school for the final presentations and the rest is history!

The students at Eden Girls School, Slough were brilliant not only in their presentation but in the social action they conducted on the centre’s behalf. We were so moved by their dedication to HWC and are extremely proud and grateful to have been a part of such an impactful programme.

What a beautiful way to kick off 40 years of HWC, inspiring the next generation to get involved in fight for ending violence against women.

Well done to all the Year 8 students at Eden Girls School, they should be extremely proud of themselves and they’ve made our year!
