Started in 2012 by Rachel Liggitt and Ray Jacobs, Shropshire Inclusive Dance is a shared space to celebrate dance in Shropshire. We organise workshops, classes, projects and performances in an inclusive environment. As a charity we wish for Shropshire to be a place where dance can thrive and where expertise, ideas, resources and the joy of moving together can be shared.

We are back in the office after the summer break, preparing and getting ready to welcome you back into our classes later this month.

We can’t wait to see you all and hope you had a wonderful summer!

Before we launch straight in, here’s another look at our wonderful ‘Dancing in the Moment’ weekender from July.

SiD is taking a much needed break over August and will be back early September. We will pick up any emails and DM’s then.

In the meantime, here a few of the familiar faces of SiD; the artists, participants, support staff and audience filled with family and friends.

We couldn’t do what we do without any of them!

Our friends at Cheshire Dance are recruiting. Spread the word!

Have you heard? We're recruiting!

Cheshire Dance is looking for a skilled and experienced Artist / Creative Practitioner to lead it’s 50th Birthday Community Heritage Project: 50 Years in Motion.

We would like to commission a high-quality artwork, or creative outcome, that is rooted in and responsive to Cheshire Dance’s archive; which holds both physical documents and the organisation’s rich, living and embodied heritage.

The commission will centre on collaboration and co-creation, inviting past and present communities to actively explore, contribute and re-imagine the heritage, stories and experiences of Cheshire Dance. In doing so, the artist will create a shared, collective experience that opens up the archive and engages audiences in meaningful and accessible ways during Cheshire Dance’s 50th year.

We’re open to a range of artforms and creative approaches – particularly those that place participation, dialogue, and artistic excellence at their heart.

Salary: £6,000 + £1,000 materials budget
Hours Of Work: Approx. 24 days
Contract: Freelance
Application deadline: Thursday 3 September 2026.

Day 2 of SiD’s ‘Dancing in the Moment’ weekend festival at Theatre Severn held so much JOY!

We invited in family and friends for a relaxed sharing of the work that we do in our sessions.

In the morning we brought together participants of Highflyers and Darwin Dancers (our youth sessions) with Create and Thrive. It was fantastic to have so many groups together.

In the afternoon we shared the Trio that co-director Ray Jacobs has been working on alongside Contact, who shared both the work that co-director Rachel Liggitt had been leading in their sessions and something from the previous day's workshop with Jo Fong.

It felt really special to share the creativity, connection and joy that takes place in our dance sessions with friends and family.

Ming DeNasty was able to capture some beautiful, joyful moments throughout the day 📸
