We love hearing how SYFAB training helps local groups take the next step. 🥰

Fashion Fusion CIC in Doncaster attended a SYFAB Preparing your National Lottery Awards for All Application session and used the guidance to support their successful funding application for a Roots to Renewal project.

💬 Estelle Pearce from Fashion Fusion CIC:
“Your expertise and encouragement made a real difference, and we’re so grateful for your help in getting us to this point.” 💜

Whether you’re applying for your first grant or looking to strengthen your fundraising skills, our SYFAB team is here to help.

The new programme has 12 courses available between now and December, supporting voluntary and community groups across South Yorkshire.

🎥 Such a pleasure to film with Barnsley group Jolly Good Communities at their fab Jolly Youth session for our 40th anniversary celebrations!

From Yoga and crafts to smoothie bikes and board games...there's so much on offer for the young people to try and, thanks to SYCF, funding, it's free.

💬 “If we didn't have the funding, we would have to start charging for our sessions which would be a real barrier to participation, especially with teenagers.

"The grant has really helped us to offer a variety of different activities and experiences to the young people which makes a huge difference to their lives.”

Meet our new grants officer, Charlotte John 👋

Charlotte will be supporting community organisations across Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield through the funding process, from assessments to grant delivery and monitoring.

💬 “My background in creative and community arts has shown me the incredible impact that local organisations can have when they are properly supported. I’m looking forward to working closely with groups across the region and helping them access funding which will enable them to grow.”

Charlotte brings fantastic experience in community-focused projects and her appointment will ensure more groups can access the funding they need to make a difference in their communities. 💜

Great to have you with us, Charlotte!

In her spare time, Charlotte helps with:

💜communications & marketing projects
💜writing case studies & newsletter articles
💜supporting SYCF events

She recently helped at our 40th birthday Community Celebration event (Charlotte is front row, far right on the image below!)

And has also volunteered at our Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park Meet the Funder events.

🎉 What a year it's been for South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation!

After celebrating our 40th birthday, we're delighted to share another incredible milestone.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we awarded a record-breaking £2.1 million to community groups across Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield in the last financial year.

That means over 40 years, we've awarded £40 million in grants!

In the financial year:
💜 669,317 people supported
💜 79.2% grant application success rate

To celebrate, we've created a short video featuring some of the amazing organisations we support, including Jolly Good Communities Fashion Fusion CIC Lost Chord UK & DESA. 🎥

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our work. 🙏
