Squirrels AGM

Our Squirrels got everyone up on their feet to join in with Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes โ€“ a fantastic way to start their AGM showcase!

We also heard all about their adventures and achievements from the past year (their report can be found in the first comment).

Our Most Improved Squirrel Award was presented to Eddison, who has settled brilliantly into Scouting life. He always tries his best, gets involved in activities, and has shown great progress throughout the year.

Our Squirrel of the Year Award goes to Sophie. Her positive, can-do attitude shines through in everything she does. She embraces every challenge with enthusiasm and is always willing to help and encourage others along the way.

Well done to all of our Squirrels on a fantastic year!

Explorers AGM

In true Explorer style, they planned and delivered their own presentation, showcasing a fantastic PowerPoint highlighting everything they have achieved and experienced throughout the year.

Our Explorer of the Year Award is particularly special, as it is voted for by the Explorers themselves.

This year the voting resulted in an incredible three-way tie! All three recipients were recognised for the same outstanding qualities โ€“ consistently taking part in activities, being excellent role models for other Explorers, and always being willing to help whenever needed.

A huge congratulations to Connor, Jacob and Ellie on being named our Explorers of the Year.

Well done to all of our Explorers for another fantastic year of adventure, challenge and achievement

Scouts AGM

Our Scouts proudly presented their report for the year, sharing some of their favourite activities, adventures and achievements from the past twelve months.

The Best Newcomer Award was presented to Isla. Since joining the troop, Isla has thrown herself into programme evenings, volunteered for competitions and challenges, and always approaches activities with enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go. She has settled into Scouts brilliantly and is a valued member of the troop.

The Scout of the Year Award was presented to Jack. Throughout the year, Jack has demonstrated true leadership, a positive attitude and a determination to embrace every opportunity. He consistently supports and encourages others within the troop, leads by example and embodies the values of Scouting. Jack is a fantastic role model and a truly deserving recipient of this award.

Congratulations to both Isla and Jack on their well-deserved achievements.

๐Ÿบ Cubs AGM ๐Ÿบ

Our Cubs had been practising their skits in preparation for the AGM, and they performed them perfectly! It was fantastic to see their confidence, teamwork and enthusiasm on display.

๐Ÿ† Orange Six were crowned the winning Six of the year, earning the most points through smart uniform, helpfulness, participation and success in games throughout the year.

โญ Best Newcomer Award went to Charlie. Since joining Cubs, Charlie has settled in brilliantly. Within just two weeks he attended CUBJAM, and he is always smiling, willing to help and a great team player.

๐Ÿ’ช Best Effort Award was presented to Benjamin. Benjamin always gives his best, continually pushing through his own barriers and embracing every challenge with a fantastic โ€œhave a goโ€ attitude.

๐ŸŒŸ Cub of the Year was awarded to Fliss. Whatever activity is on offer, Fliss is always one of the first to sign up, eager to join in and bringing a smile wherever she goes. Her enthusiasm and positive attitude make her a worthy winner of this yearโ€™s award.

๐Ÿ‘ We also took the opportunity to thank Jacob for his time as a Young Leader. We presented him with some important items to support his next adventure as he joins us as an Adult Leader in September.

A huge well done to all of our Cubs for another fantastic year. We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿบโšœ๏ธ

AGM Reports - Beavers

Our Beavers certainly surprised everyone during their showcase performance this year with an energetic and enthusiastic Haka that had the audience captivated.

Donโ€™t worry thoughโ€”the traditional rendition of The Grand Old Duke of York will no doubt make a return at Group Camp! ๐Ÿคช

This year, our Beaver of the Year Award goes to Anya. Anya has consistently demonstrated a positive attitude, a wonderful smile, enthusiasm for every activity, and a willingness to join in and give everything a go. She is a fantastic role model within the Colony and thoroughly deserves this recognition.

We were also delighted to present our highest section award, the Bronze Award, to Anya and Elsie. Achieving the Bronze Award requires commitment, perseverance and hard work across a range of activities, and both Beavers should be incredibly proud of their achievement.

A brilliant year for our Beavers, and we look forward to seeing what adventures the next year brings. ๐Ÿฆซ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

We also recognised the work and memories Beryl Lewis, better known as Queen Beaver has made possible. Beryl has been ADC Beavers for many years, supporting Scarborough & District Beaver sections and organising many district trips and events. Beryl has recently stepped down from this role but will continue to support in her role supporting the running and development of Birch Hall Camp Site, thank you for the adventures you have planned for our beavers.

At our AGM this afternoon Sarah Morland stepped down.

Sarah has been instrumental in raising funds for camping equipment, helping us take our growing group away on adventures and provide opportunities that create lifelong memories and new experiences.

Her dedication and support has helped make trips such as Poacher 2022, Essex 2024, and Disneyland Paris 2026 possible for our young people.

As a valued member of our Trustee Board, Sarah has also played an important role in raising funds for the upkeep and improvement of our Scout Hut, ensuring it remains a welcoming place for everyone.

Whether working behind the scenes or being found in the kitchen at group events, Sarah has always been willing to lend a hand and support the group in countless ways.

You will be greatly missed, and we offer our heartfelt thanks for everything you have done for Derwent Valley Scout Group. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›

With sincere gratitude and best wishes, thank you, Sarah.

Sarah was also awarded the Wendy Barden Trophy for her support and the impact to the group this year

Shout out

Sam one of our Scouts received a very special presentation whilst we were away!

Sam was awarded โ€œMost Dedicatedโ€ by his football club scalbyfc

Sam not only plays and trains for his own age group but the one above too. Due to not being able to collect his trophy at the presentation because we were away at Disneyland - the trophy went with us so we could present it on their behalf!

Well done Sam
