This weekend, 6 members of Hawks Explorers headed to London alongside other groups from across the District to take part in London Monopoly! 🎲

The teams had to navigate their way around the city, visiting various landmarks along the way, including Big Ben, London Zoo and Wembley Stadium! 🕰️🦁⚽

After a hard-fought game, Hawks Explorers came an amazing 2nd place! 🥈 A fantastic effort from everyone involved — well done, Hawks! 👏

A big thank you to the District and Leadership Teams for organising such a great weekend. Everyone had a brilliant time! 🙌

Hawks Explorers visited Seagrown tonight to discover what they do here on our East coast.
We learned about their offshore seaweed farm and the environmental benefits of it, along with how they created it and developed it into an important marine environment.

The Explorers were shown lots of different seaweeds that grow here on our shores, and they had the opportunity to taste them (with mixed reactions! 😄).

They then selected some seaweeds of their choice and cooked them to see how that altered the flavour.

Lastly they tried Seagrown's seasonings on some chips - they went down very well!!

A big thank you to Imogen and the team for being such excellent hosts and opening the Explorers eyes to the important conservation work and career opportunities within an organisation like Seagrown. It also made them think about the benefits of safe foraging, and sourcing local products from local producers to reduce environmental impact.

Hawks Explorers were challenged to a cooking competition tonight to work towards their Chef badge!
Each team was given a box of ingredients with a recipe to produce some tasty street food - we had baja avocado tacos, chicken and cheese quesadillas, Vietnamese style tofu burgers and NYC style hot dogs with street cart onions!

It was such a lovely warm evening that we set up outside and the teams worked really hard to create their dishes. They used lots of ingredients that they'd never tried before, I think it's fair to say that they all surprised themselves with how tasty their food was!

The leaders had the best job of tasting everything...they were all delicious!! 😀

Hawks Explorer Scouts are back! 🦅

We kicked off last week with a planning meeting, getting everyone ready for another exciting programme of activities.

🌞 What a fantastic way to finish the Summer term! 🏹🛶🏖️

Hawks Explorers wrapped up the term with three brilliant evenings of Archery, Kayaking, and a Beach Night. It was a fantastic way to end an amazing term filled with fun, adventure, and great memories.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part. Have a wonderful summer, and we’ll see you all at Group Camp! ☀️🏕️

Hawkes Explores took full advantage of the glorious weather and enjoyed a game of Breakout, where the challenge was to make it from the Scout hut to the Lifeboat Station without getting caught! ☀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

A huge well done to Abi for taking the win! 🏆

Hawks Explorers had great fun doing their pioneering challenge in the woods at Turkey Carpet tonight!
They had to build natural playground equipment including a horizontal rope ladder, swings, a surfer swing and a carousel!
Lots of problem solving to find the right trees and follow the instructions with a few tweaks here and there!
They were really pleased with their builds and the best bit was trying them out...especially the carousel.

Thank you to Andy from the RNLI who visited Hawks tonight.
He gave a talk about the work that the RNLI do, and the kind of rescues they carry out.
In light of the recent number of young people who have lost their lives in cold water, Andy went through the types of situations that they might find themselves in and how to have the best chance of survival.
He showed us some of the kit that is used to keep us safe when doing watersports, and the importance of knowing how to maintain the kit.
He had brought some rescue throwing ropes for everyone to have a go with, the Explorers had mixed results to start with and some forgot to hold onto one end! After a few attempts and some determination they all did really well and became pretty accurate with the throws!
