🌸 **Rotherham Carers Forum at the Rotherham Show 2026!** 🌸
Thank you Jayne, Gordon & Dotty for running the stall this year.
Rotherham Carers Forum had a fantastic day at this year’s Rotherham Show, joining other voluntary and community organisations in the Voluntary Action Rotherham marquee.
A huge thank you to VAR for giving the Forum the opportunity to attend free of charge. The larger marquee provided a comfortable base, and the location near Clifton Museum and café was particularly handy!
From around 11am, there was a steady flow of visitors, giving the Forum plenty of opportunities to chat with people, raise awareness of unpaid caring and share information about the support available.
🎁 Jayne prepared around 50 goody bags, each containing an information leaflet, pen and chocolate – and they had all been snapped up by around 2pm! Two tubs of Cadbury’s Heroes and Roses also disappeared remarkably quickly! 😋
The Forum’s colourful display included a white ornamental tree decorated with pink butterfly lights. A simple **“I Care Because…”** activity explored some of the different reasons people provide unpaid care:
💛 *I care because I do it as a volunteer*
💙 *I care through love*
💚 *I care through duty*
The day was a great opportunity for networking, with lots of familiar faces stopping by to say hello and several new connections being made.
A special mention goes to Lisa, who came along to help, and to everyone who visited the stall, including Helen Wyatt, Gill Clegg, Carole and John Wilkinson, Julie and Sam Sharp, Susan Gladwin, Michael Bennett-Sylvester and Pippa Harder.
The Forum was also delighted to make a new connection with Drew from Alzheimer’s Society, who has offered to visit one of the Forum’s groups and has shared information about activities taking place across Rotherham.
Overall, it was a really successful and worthwhile day – plenty of conversations, lots of information shared, new contacts made and greater awareness of the experiences of unpaid carers.
And after a long day, Gordon, Dotty and of course our Jayne were certainly ready for a rest! 🐾💤
