Dog rescue based in South Yorkshire Helping Yorkshire Poundies is a dog rescue charity based in South Yorkshire. Can we help?

We rescue dogs from all sorts of situations - from local stray pounds; directly from owners who can no longer keep them; dogs whose owners have sadly passed away or are too ill to care for them; and from local vets who contact us when owners ask them to be euthanized for no "good" reason. We strive to help as many dogs as possible, wherever we are able, regardless of their background. We are a very small but very hard working team, and rescue approximately 130 dogs per year. We assess each individual dog and take great pride in taking considerable care to match each individual dog to the right forever home/owner. We have a special interest in dogs needing medical treatment, which many other rescues may be unable to help due to the cost and extensive care and treatment they may need. We have a fantastic team of vets to call on, and will always do everything possible to treat and care for every dog. Giving Up Your Dog

You might have noticed that we’ve been quite absent from social media than usual - we just wanted to do a quick post to stop and say ‘hi’ 👋

…. we’re still here, but have been going through a difficult time ‘behind the scenes’ for the past few weeks ❤️🥺🌅

URGENT FOSTER HOME NEEDED!!! 🚨Poor BRUCE is desperately unhappy in kennels 😥 he is not eating, and we are getting very worried about him 💔 he urgently needs to be in a home!! 🤍

We saved Bruce from the pound recently, where he had been since August (so he’s already spent a few months in kennels at this point 😓) - he was quiet and a bit shy on arrival, but he’s soon come out of his shell and has shown us his wiggly Staffy side 🤍

Bruce is around 6 yrs old and needs a quieter home with plenty of company 🤍 he is such a lovely boy who is just so lost in kennels 😓 he walks nicely on lead, isn’t reactive to other dogs, travels well and tries to stay clean in his kennel 🤍

We have very unexpectedly had to take in 2 very broken dogs as an absolute emergency 🆘 they’re heartbreaking to say the least 😓💔

Poor SANDY is 8 yrs old and has been bred and bred from - we saved 2 of her puppies a year ago who were in a terrible state, but we couldn’t get her signed over at the time … but now at very short notice, we finally have her safe ❤️ she’s producing milk so she’s been in for a scan - thankfully no signs of more puppies ❤️

Together with Sandy, we took ELSA - her daughter who is now 2.5 years old - Elsa has never left the house she was born in and is totally unsocialised having lived in a difficult environment, and is petrified 💔😣 our hearts absolutely break for her that she’s had to wait this long for us to finally be able to help, but safe to say, her life starts here ❤️ if we can find someone out there who has relevant experience with traumatised, fearful dogs and can offer this girl a safe, quiet foster space to help her decompress, it would be life changing for her 🙏

So that’s 2 very unexpected intakes who have taken our emergency kennel spaces, but we really had to drop everything to get these girls safe ❤️ both need all basic vet work carrying out (costing over £300 each) - any donations for the girls so that we can pick up the pieces of their past would be a huge help ❤️

You came up with so many lovely name suggestions for our new girl 💗🩶 … we tried a few names out to see what she responded to … and one ‘stuck’ - so please officially meet gorgeous : WILLOW 🌲💗

We are so proud of how she’s doing! She’s relaxed so much already and is showing her silly playful Staffy side already 😃🌲💗 we’ve had some zoomies, a wiggly bum and even kisses - oh and she loves a bum scratch 🥹💗 she knows lots of commands and is a pro at sit, paw, down, stay and even beg! Clever girl!!

We think she’s only around 2-3 yrs old, and has spent over a year in kennels before coming to us 🥺 as she’s doing so well, it won’t be too long before she’s ready to move into a home - she’ll need a quiet pet and child free bull breed savvy home who can take things at her own pace as she is easily spooked 💗🌲 she’s such a special girl who deserves all the love in the world after a very difficult start to life 🌲💗

Happy days for FIONA - she has been adopted 😁😍💕and is now called ELFIE which we love!!

Elfie could easily have gone under the radar - a bully breed with cropped ears are so often ‘unwanted’ because of their looks, but thankfully her new mum saw how amazing (and absolutely adorable!!) she is, and has fallen in love with this little pocket rocket 😍💕 we can’t thank her enough for giving her a chance - it’s all any dog needs just to show who they really are and how much love they have to give 💕

🌼 LOTTIE UPDATE🌼 Thank you to everyone who has shared, commented and offered to help Lottie - it’s hugely appreciated!

We have received many lovely emails and messages about her and are working hard to get back to everyone, whilst also running the day to day rescue.

Please bear with us while we do this, and we will update on the main page when Lottie has news to share … thank you all 😊

Lottie URGENTLY needs to find a home - before the end of this month !!! ‼️

She is the sweetest 12 yr old Cockapoo who has had some terrible luck in finding the right home, and her time in foster is now quickly coming to an end so things are now very urgent!! 🚨 She simply CANNOT come into kennels!! She does NOT cope at all!

Lottie has been diagnosed with stage 2 kidney failure 🥺 however she’s coping very well, loves her food and takes a daily supplement for her kidney health 💛

She loves everyone, is child and dog friendly - her ONLY issue is that she suffers with terrible seperation anxiety 🥺 … Lottie simply cannot cope when left alone for any length of time, and at her age and time in life, we need to find her a home where she simply will not be left alone ❤️ (She luckily travels really well, and is very social, so can go out and about on errands with her new family 😊)

We desperately need to get her settled into a permanent home ‼️ please give her appeal a share to help us find that special home that we know is out there somewhere 🤞❤️🤞

This gorgeous boy was well overdue his time in stray kennels and very urgently needed help 😥 so we offered him a safe space with us, and he’s arrived with us today - now he gets a 2nd chance at life 🤍 he’s a bit bewildered at the minute but has totally melted our hearts, and we can’t wait to get to know him 🤍

… and just as we’d offered to help him, we were sent a photo of a frosty faced 13 yr old Brindle Staffy girl called Peppa Pig 🥺 she was waiting there for help too, and also desperately needed a space…. How could we say no?! 💕 So we asked for her to be squeezed onto the transport run up to us - and that’s 2 lives saved today 🤍

Please show them both lots of love 💕 and that they’re no longer unwanted or unloved - that they matter 🤍 any donations for their care would be a huge help 🤍 thank you for helping us to be there for dogs in desperate need 🤍

We really can’t thank you all enough for the incredible support you show our dogs ❤️ we know that it’s been relentless recently, and you really have pulled us through ❤️

Here is an update about our beautiful baby boy MAX 🧡🤍 the scan of his brain has shown that he has fluid on the brain 🥺 and some abnormalities of the bones at the back of his skull 😢

This explains so much in terms of his wonky/wobbly walk AND his behaviour - he struggles and gets massively overwhelmed with a lot of everyday things - even things like rain falling on his back, through to meeting new people - everything ‘blows his mind’ and he can’t self regulate himself 🥺🤍🧡

So he is now trialling medication to help the flow of fluid in his brain and we’ll see how he is in a few weeks - we have EVERYTHING crossed that it starts to help him - he’s the sweetest, most very special boy 🤍🧡🤍

You honestly could not make it up 😩 Just when we thought things might be a bit easier … little HOLLY has now fallen very very poorly and needs urgent vet care 🚨🆘😭🏥

We are totally exhausted trying to battle these endless vet emergencies 😩 But we literally have no choice - little Holly’s life depends on us funding her vet care - it’s not her fault 😞💔

Somehow, we need to raise £250 for initial tests today 🆘 … and now on top of that, we have to fund 24 hours hospital care for her 🏥 estimated at £1250 (with our discount) - so that’s £1500 we have to somehow find for Holly in the next 24 hours 🆘🏥

We are truly so sorry that we have to post this appeal, but anything at all that you can donate for Holly and her care would mean the world ❤️ we have to keep positive that we can do this (again!), as there really is no other option 😞❤️🆘

CHILLI is 6.5 months old, and she needs a Sighthound savvy home 🌶️🖤

She was adopted as a puppy, and has done really well, but is sadly finding the high energy children in the home too overwhelming - her family are heartbroken, but just want what is best for Chilli, and that is a quieter home without young children 🖤🌶️

She is great with dogs, and would likely benefit from a home with a resident neutered male dog (another Lurcher would be perfect 🖤)

Chilli will be an incredible companion and would love an active lifestyle with a family who understand her sensitive breed traits and can ensure she matures into a happy, well rounded girl 🖤🌶️🖤
