Getting dressed isn't just part of the daily routineβit's a fantastic opportunity to build your child's language skills! πππ§¦
For your younger Tiny Talkers π, try naming the clothes as you help them get dressed:
π "Here's your t-shirt." 𧦠"Let's put on your socks." π "Time for your shoes!"
For your older Tiny Talkers π, explore more detailed vocabulary and descriptions:
π Talk about sleeves, cuffs, buttons, zips and pockets π¨ Describe colours, patterns and textures β Compare clothes: "Which jumper has the biggest buttons?" or "Can you find the striped socks?"
As you chat together, pause and give your child time to respond. Every conversation helps build their vocabulary, confidence and communication skills. π₯°π¬
π‘ Top Tip: Follow your child's interests and let them make choices when possible. Asking questions like "Which socks would you like today?" encourages even more talking!
Happy chatting, Tiny Talkers! πβ¨
