Picture Perfect Afternoon

Our PSDS centre was full of colour, creativity, chatting, cuppas and cake at last week’s Paint & Cake workshop.

Following the success of Jo and Penny’s first Paint & Cake workshop earlier this year, they kindly decided to run another in support of PSDS and it was equally as successful.

Penny created a poppy fields composition for the workshop and expertly guided over 20 guests through the various stages needed to come up with their own interpretation to take home and enjoy.

Jo once again treated everyone to a delicious array of cakes and kept the refreshments flowing throughout the afternoon.

Huge thanks to Jo and Penny for putting together another fabulous afternoon, and to Susanna and Katherine for their help too. A combination of works of art and works of heart, with everyone’s generosity and support the Paint & Cake workshop raised over £900 for PSDS. Well done to all involved!

We are extremely proud of our TeamPSDS runners who completed races of various distances at RunReigate last Sunday. Almost 5,000 runners of all ages and abilities took part in this year’s iconic event, in support of many local charities and good causes.

It was a magnificent effort from our team – Anna, Jen, Jordi, Manda and the Joggers For Jack crew of Eden, Harry, Ivy, Jack, Jessica and Rose – who not only completed their individual RunReigate challenges but also raised a collective total of over £4,200. An incredible achievement for which we are very grateful.

Debbie’s Delight

PSDS supporter Debbie was thrilled to scoop the first prize – a hamper filled with goodies – in our Afternoon Tea raffle. Joined by an additional 20 PSDS supporters and members we all had a great afternoon at The Plough in Leigh, just outside Reigate.

Our PSDS Afternoon Tea is a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends over a cuppa (or a glass of fizz!) and enjoy lots of delicious sweet and savoury treats. A lovely social event to celebrate the start of a new academic year at PSDS, the Tea also raised £400 which is a fabulous bonus.

A Bridge of Support

Reigate Bridge Club’s Charity Afternoon last month was a huge success. We are so thrilled to have been chosen as their charity partner for this event which raised a wonderful donation of £1,250.

Support from members of our local community is so important to us all at PSDS. Without donations like these we simply wouldn’t be able to provide the exceptional range of services and activities accessed by so many amazing children and young people with Down syndrome and their families.

We are so pleased the Reigate Bridge Club members had such a fabulous afternoon (the homemade cakes all looked delicious!) and we really appreciate the hard work that goes in to putting events like these together.

Well done everyone – what an Ace result all round!

RunReigate

It’s not too late to sign up for the 5k, 10k or half marathon distances at this iconic event taking place Sunday 20th September. There are spaces available in the kids' mile races too. Follow the link to sign up and join TeamPSDS for what promises to be another sensational event.

We are a Surrey based charity providing exceptional support and specialist services for children and young people who have Down syndrome. We support families too by providing guidance, advice and friendship. By raising awareness about Down syndrome we also raise expectations about what our children....

Hazel

If you have attended Digbies on a Tuesday in the past few years you will have had the pleasure of meeting Hazel, one of our amazing volunteers. Hazel has an impressive professional background in the field of young children with special educational needs and is dedicated to supporting Digbies families with her wonderful, positive approach. We are delighted to announce that she has accepted the role of our preschool educationalist on a Tuesday.
