Reigate & Redhill u3a

Reigate & Redhill u3a u3a is an independent, national institution with local branches. There are lots of opportunities to get involved with learning remotely or in your area.

It aims to provide opportunities for those who are no longer in regular employment to pursue and share skills, interests, knowledge and hobbies with each other and have fun! The u3a movement is a collection of groups (u3as) that run local and online member-led learning across the UK, in particular for those no longer in full time work. u3a members draw upon their knowledge and experience to teach

and learn from each other for pleasure; learning is its own reward. It's all voluntary; Reigate and Redhill u3a is home to many activity groups covering hundreds of different subjects - from art to yoga and everything in between. It’s local, social, friendly, low-cost and open to all.

Monthly meeting September 2026 - The Ghosts of Scotland Yard

14.00 on Friday 4th September at Reigate Park Church

Over the years, the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police in London has been located at several sites including its current location on the Embankment. As a former volunteer in the famous Crime Museum, Lindsay Siviter has been collecting stories and tales about alleged ghostly sightings and strange phenomena within this famous institution’s various locations and collated all these stories together for her presentation.

Monthly meeting August 7th: Racing through the Southern Ocean

14.00 on Friday 7th August at Reigate Park Church

Ian Worley will be talking about his experiences whilst sailing as a watch leader, later promoted to First Mate, on the maxi yacht Great Britain II in the 1977/78 Whitbread Round the World Race. During that race they encountered storms aplenty, raging seas, icebergs and a lightning strike, all whilst he was filming for the BBC sports programme Grandstand. Later, he made a film of his experiences which he sold to United Artists to accompany the James Bond film Moonraker.
Hold on to your seats - we might be in for a bumpy ride!

The Seaside Piers of the British Isles - by Graeme Payne

Reigate Park Church, 14.00 on Friday 3rd July 2026

There are more seaside piers in Britain than in the rest of the world put together. Starting with Britain's first pier on the Isle of Wight, we will enjoy a colourful tour of these historic icons of the British seaside, from Aberystwyth to Yarmouth and Gravesend to Blackpool, the birthplace of Sooty.
