A Cosy Autumn Afternoon at the Oddfellows.
Autumn proved to be the perfect season for friendship, fun and fundraising when members of the Oddfellows Friendly Society came together for a series of enjoyable activities at Redruth’s Oddfellows Hall in Green Lane and Kea Community Centre at Plying Place, Truro.
There was plenty of laughter and friendly rivalry at the Truro gathering, where members took part in a fun duck race.
Everyone cheered on their chosen duck as they made their way to the finish, with the overall winner rewarded with a large bar of chocolate.
Meanwhile, members in Redruth put their knowledge to the test with an autumn themed 30 question quiz. Sandra was the clear winner, achieving an impressive 23 correct answers, and was also rewarded with a large bar of chocolate.
The gatherings provided an opportunity not only to enjoy each other’s company but also to support some worthwhile causes.
Members helped with Sandra’s annual shoebox appeal by bringing along a generous collection of suitable items to help fill the boxes. Ann has also been busy making large woollen blankets, which will be sold to raise funds for the appeal.
There was something for everyone, with members able to browse and choose from a selection of free books, DVDs and puzzles to take away.
A fun prize raffle raised additional funds for a local charity, giving members the chance to win while also contributing to a good cause.
Plans were also made for future Sunday Lunch Club gatherings, giving members from across the district the opportunity to meet up, enjoy a meal together and catch up with friends.
And, of course, no Oddfellows gathering would be complete without refreshments. Members enjoyed a tempting selection of cakes, chocolate biscuits and fruit, accompanied by plenty of tea and coffee.
It was a lovely way to spend an autumn afternoon, bringing members together in friendship and good humour while supporting others in the community.
With laughter, games, good food and fundraising all featuring, the gatherings captured the warm and welcoming spirit of the Oddfellows.
