SOUPER SOCIAL: SOUP FOR THE SHOPS

After the drama of at least five Redruth shops having their windows smashed in on the same day, we've decided to turn something horrible into something positive.

So, we're bringing you our first ever Souper Social - and this one is going to be Soup for the Shops.

Join us on Friday 30th October for a big bowl of delicious homemade soup, followed by one of our autumnal puddings.

But more importantly, we'll be coming together to help the local shops affected by the damage.

Minimum donation £10 per person on the night, with all proceeds going towards helping with the cost of replacing the smashed windows.

We want this to be a proper community evening - good food, good company and a chance to show our independent high street businesses that they're not on their own.

Booking essential - we need to keep track of numbers so we know how much soup to make!

And if you fancy helping out, any extra pairs of hands for serving, clearing tables and doing the dishes would be very gratefully appreciated! It's going to take a little army to feed everyone.

Sharing this from Fran at The Grow Box - Redruth with regards to the woman smashing windows in town yesterday. I'm also sharing a useful reply she received with actual factual information regarding the individual.
I am gutted for Fran and all the other businesses and individuals involved. We will, as a community help as much as possible. We value our independent retailers.
What is horrific though, is the vile hatred and accusations banded about on Facebook particularly on Redruth pages. Somehow everything gets blamed on Redruth Town Council or Immigrants or 'non locals', lefties, the government.
Your hatred and rage are really quite archaic and simplistic, and unsubstantiated opinions are lazy and stupid.
Love not hate people - please be part of the solution, don't add to the problem.

Redruth businesses are invited to a free UKPAC sign-up event on Monday, 15th June at the Redruth Civic Centre from 5pm to 7pm.

UKPAC helps businesses report crime and anti-social behaviour quickly and securely, while improving communication and intelligence sharing between businesses and partners.

Businesses can currently sign up completely free for two years.

BBC Cornwall Radio Cornwall's James Churchfield will be hosting his radio show from Regal Redruth Theatre, Cinema, Restaurant & Bar tomorrow, Friday 29th. Sarah (RED Pottery and Tina The Art Room) will be talking about Totally Locally, women's health, creativity.... But the focus of the radio show this week is health.... There will be FREEEEEEE health checks run from 8 to 10 at The Regal Redruth Theatre, Cinema, Restaurant & Bar. Details below:
The health checks are run by the team from Healthy Cornwall and include a blood pressure check, a metabolic weighing machine that gives a much more detailed assessment of your bodyweight and machine to test lung capacity if you're a smoker. All of this is optional and you're not obliged to share the information. However, if you do share any it's a great way of enforcing the idea at the heart of the campaign to be open and frank about our health. The checks are open to anyone and everyone who may wish to take advantage of them between 8 and 10am.
