Hello lovely supporters, we hope you're all having a fine Bank Holiday weekend 😊

We've been ticking along nicely over the cold, wet and stormy months with a few bats in and we're starting to get a little busier now hibernation is coming to an end. The first 2 of our over-wintering bats were released last week and the rest won't be far behind 🤞

Unfortunately our main bat carer is dealing with some health issues and after a lot of conversations we've had to make the very difficult but necessary decision that we will not be taking in any baby bats this year.

This has been especially hard as (so far) we've not been able to secure an alternative for them but we need to make sure we can remain open and provide the same level of care for adults and older juveniles without the rest of the team becoming overwhelmed.

We will still be open 24/7 for help and advice. If you don't get an answer from Sam on our main number (07809768471) you can now call Dave on 07955637052 who will be happy to help.

Two in so far this year, both from Bodmin and both the usual amount of grumpy for this time of year.

BLE Champagne arrived on New Year's Day and Pip Rufas came in this afternoon. Aside from a little dehydration both are in good health. They will be allowed to keep snoozing until the end of hibernation and then released back to their homes. 💕

It's been our busiest year so far. In July & August alone we took in just over 60 bats not including babies. We have a high number overwintering with us as intakes did not slow down as Autumn kicked in and despite our most encouraging efforts, they just want to snooze!

In July we moved all the bats to their new home, which has been affectionately named The Battery. This has only been possible with your support and we thank each and every one of you fabulous, lovely people 💖

Hopefully Flappy Bertina will be our last bat of the year. She got herself tangled in cobweb and that stuff sets like concrete! One arm was attached to her face the other was so tightly bound that it caused small abrasions to her forearm. She couldn't see and I've no idea how she could breathe either. It took 20 mins of careful snipping and peeling to reveal her beautiful face, not sure she appreciated the sideways mohican hairstyle though 😂

From myself, Steve and all the bats we would like to say thank you for supporting our work and wish you all a very Happy New Year, we hope it brings you peace, love and a lot of laughter 💕

We've got a little 6kg washing machine which does a great battle keeping up with the bat washing but we really need something bigger so we can do full bag loads at a time.

If anyone is upgrading their machine in the pre/post xmas sales could they please keep us in mind for your old machine. It would be well loved & very well used!

BLE Max and Pip Hector are 2 very skinny boys who arrived in the last week from Truro & Liskeard. With Max weighing in at 4.6g and Hector 3.4g they've a fair bit of chunk to put on before they can go home. Both are on a careful refeeding program and so far they're responding well 🤞

Max is giving cute annoyed face as he resented us cleaning the delightful mess he'd spent time making in his box 😂 Hector was sound asleep thoroughly enjoying his heat mat.

Shhh, let sleeping bats lie 😴💖
