UP THE STEELMEN!! ⚽️

Our newly promoted Steelmen of Redcar Athletic FC have a terrific 7 game pre-season home friendly fixture list, prior to their debut in the Northern Premier League Premier Division (see attached posters).

The likes of Middlesbrough, Darlington and Hartlepool are coming to Green Lane, as well as a local derby against Redcar Town.
Dunston, Ashington and Morpeth Town complete the pre season friendly list.

To compliment this, the Athletic have a pre-season friendly 7-match Multi Game Ticket available for all sections, giving big savings.

In addition, any season tickets purchased between now and 1st of July 2026 will also receive a free pre season Multi Game Ticket!

UTS!!

Another fascinating photo of a double decker (the 284..Shop at Binns on the back!) in Lincoln Road.

How many of us knew that the layby that is still there today was then the Green Lane Terminus!

UPDATE: Tony Walshaw has provided the actual bus route from 1979:

The route from town was via Granville Terrace, Coast Road, Lilac Grove, Oak Road and then the terminal loop was via Canterbury Road, Laburnum Road, Lincoln Road, Green Lane, Oak Road, Chester Road to the crossroads with Canterbury Road, then turn right onto Canterbury Road and back to town.

Wow, who remembers the days when double deckers (namely the 284 to Green Lane) used to travel along Laburnum Road?

They would certainly have helped keep the trees well trimmed!

No speed bumps and road markings too.

'When the town service was the second car....👍

Notice the residential roads uncluttered by parked vehicles, undamaged grass verges etc.'
