Incredible resilience and innovation from these 2 young women who developed their winning idea - turning war rubble into building bricks to rebuild their town. All of this from the cover of their canvas tent after the ongoing Israeli War destroyed their homes. Huge congratulations to them. Residents are invited on Sunday, 19 April, for a spectacular town-wide event. The Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board is joining forces with the Great British Carnival and St. George's Church, Ramsgate to officially celebrate the new Ramsgate 10-year community plan.

Expect a fantastic day out! Enjoy the joyful St George's Day Spring Parade, a traditional mumming play, and a free community lunch. Attendees will also get to experience the 'Bring It to Life' creative showcases. Come and see incredible local talent in action, from roaming street performers to new murals and sound installations.

This is also the perfect chance to meet members of the Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board. Residents can say hello, share their thoughts, and bring ideas for potential projects that will shape the town's future.

Happy Mondays began in 2023 as a pilot project in The Discovery Planet shop.
It offered a space for those who faced barriers socially. Eli, Carson and Carina offered hand massages, creative activities, access to the Citizens Advice Bureau, friendship.
We watched it grow week by week.

This is an amazing collective of local
people, some of whom leave their homes only once a week to attend this safe inclusive and free gathering.

I know they would really appreciate any financial support you can give.

Let’s help them stay open for another 6 months.

On Saturday 11 April, we were honoured to receive our King’s Award for Voluntary Service from the Lord‑Lieutenant of Kent Lord-Lieutenant of Kent at Royal Temple Yacht Club Ramsgate

We celebrated this incredible recognition with our long‑term volunteers – from Margaret Hough, our very first volunteer through Kent Coast Volunteering KCV, to the amazing young team who support us today.

We were delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Ramsgate Ramsgate Town Council, local councillors, members of Thanet District Council, teachers and educators, and our friends and community partners from local industry and VCSE organisations across Thanet.

We were also happy to introduce our new Discovery Planet Directors, Nicola, Emma and Juliette

Special thanks to Jules Bigg for his fun and imaginative graphic design and Pete Bateson Peter Batesonfor his many years of photography, helping us to ignite curiosity and tell our story along the way.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us by attending workshops, sharing our events, and championing what we do. This award is a huge community achievement for us and for Thanet (especially Ramsgate), and we couldn’t have done it without your support.

Don’t miss this opportunity to add your thoughts to this outreach initiative. There must be so many amazing local stories to be told. We recently discovered that there was once a camera obscura at the end of the lighthouse pier, surely parts of it still exist?

What stories should the Clock House Museum tell?
Thanet council wants your help to shape the future of Ramsgate’s maritime heritage. Whether it's tales of the Royal Harbour or local legends, now is the time to have your say!
