What an amazing way to wrap up Victorious Festival!

As we reach the final day, the URBOND team are reflecting on a fantastic festival filled with great conversations, new connections and plenty of opportunities to network with local organisations, supporters and members of the community.

Victorious has been incredible once again, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to Victorious Festival and the entire team for the warm welcome, fantastic hospitality and all the hard work that goes into making such a brilliant event happen.

It’s been a pleasure being part of it, meeting so many inspiring people and building connections across our local community.

Here’s to the conversations, collaborations and partnerships that come from events like this!

It’s been a wet day at Victorious, but that certainly didn’t dampen our spirits!

We’ve had a brilliant day of networking, connecting with new people, and getting involved in some fun activities along the way.

Now we’re looking forward to the final day tomorrow and it’s going to be a fun one! 🎉

DAY 1 at VICTORIOUS 🎉

URBOND has opened up the beach volleyball courts this weekend and it has been an amazing start to the festival.

We also caught up with some amazing people in the VIP lounge this afternoon. A huge thank you to Terri and the rest of the Victorious Festival team for this amazing opportunity!

Make sure to come and visit us and play some volleyball- we’re here all weekend 🏐

VICTORIOUS FESTIVAL WEEKEND🎉

URBOND will be at the beach volleyball courts at Victorious from Friday to Sunday. Come and join us over the weekend to play volleyball and socialise 🏐 You will also find our team at the URBOND stand just outside the courts so make sure to come over and say hello!

We are all very excited and can't wait to be part of the event this year. Thank you to the team - Let's go 😁

We were delighted to welcome Councillor Chris Attwell, Portico and Lakeside North Harbour to URBOND to see first-hand the impact of their support.

Through Portsmouth City Council’s social impact approach, our partners at Lakeside generously donated desks, chairs and office equipment to support our work here in Portsmouth, as well as our Child Education initiative in Guinea.

The furniture will help equip our URBOND centre and community projects, while a significant amount will be shipped to our school in Koutaya, Guinea, which we opened last year to give children in the local community access to education closer to home.

A special thank you to the team at Portico for working so hard to make the logistics of getting the furniture to Guinea possible, and to Lakeside North Harbour for their incredibly generous donation.

It was a privilege for URBOND to be part of the launch of the Community Ambassador Model Research Project yesterday at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford.

The model, developed by our valued partner Families in the UK (AFiUK), is rooted in years of community leadership, practice and collaboration. Hearing directly from leaders across the country about their experiences of the programme and the difference it has made within their communities was both powerful and inspiring.

The day was also a wonderful celebration of the Power of Multiplication, seeing community leaders who have benefited from the programme come together to share their journeys, learning and ambitions for the future demonstrated just how much can be achieved when knowledge, leadership and community power are multiplied.

It was also wonderful to spend time with leaders and organisations working across academia, health, research, legal services and funding.

Well done, Rachel and the AFiUK team! We look forward to continuing this journey together.

We were delighted to welcome the Chair of African Families in the UK (AFiUK) CIC and the team to Portsmouth for a three day visit to deepen our partnership and gain a closer understanding of URBOND’s operations, community work and impact.

A special thank you goes to The National Lottery Community Fund for initiating and creating the space for this partnership to begin at the Community Cohesion Ideas Exchange in Cambridge in January this year. What started as an opportunity to connect and share ideas has developed into a meaningful partnership with exciting potential for communities and young people.

During the visit, AFIUK also brought one of their young people, David Walton, who spent time exchanging ideas and experiences with our Youth Ambassadors. This created a valuable opportunity for young people to connect, explore ways to strengthen and expand our partnership, and, most importantly, ensure that youth voices are meaningfully included in shaping the work we do.

AFIUK also met with various leaders and organisations that URBOND works with, providing an opportunity to share ideas, exchange experiences and build stronger relationships. These conversations helped to strengthen our wider network and identify opportunities for future collaboration.

URBOND, AFIUK and other national partners are working together on a number of important and life changing projects aimed at strengthening communities, creating opportunities and supporting young people and families across the country.

We look forward to building on this partnership, learning from each other and turning shared ideas into meaningful action.

Partnerships create possibilities. Young people create the future. Together, we create lasting change.

It was wonderful to catch up with members of the community that were part of the Portsmouth Cultural Festival over the weekend!

A great chance to recap and feedback on the big event and to put some plans in place on how we can go bigger and better next year 🎉 We thank you all for your ongoing support and contribution to making this event a huge success.

We were delighted to also be joined the amazing Rachel from AFiUK African Families in the UK (AFiUK) who kindly travelled down from Colchester last week to visit URBOND and develop our working partnership. We can’t wait to see this grow and support our mission to helping communities thrive.

You gave your time freely, worked tirelessly and went above and beyond to help bring our community together and celebrate the rich diversity of cultures that make Portsmouth so special.
