This we wanted to give a huge shout out to the service children who attended our Book Launch on HMS Warrior for our new book, Race to the Sailors' Rest: A Polly and Hector Adventure!

The children were impeccably behaved throughout and were an absolute credit to both their parents and their schools. It was so lovely to have you all along and we hope you continue behaving that way at home!

Adam and Jess have been an absolute delight to work with, and we honestly couldn't have wished for a better author and illustrator team for our new book, Race to the Sailor's Rest: A Polly and Hector Adventure.

Their talents complement each other beautifully, bringing Polly and Hector's world to life in a truly special way. It was such a pleasure to spend time with them both at our book launch aboard HMS Warrior on Monday and to celebrate everything we've achieved together.

We're incredibly grateful to have them as part of this adventure. Watch this space for more information about Adam and Jess coming soon!

We're going to keep shouting about it! πŸ“šβš“

A huge thank you to the local Service pupils who joined us for the launch of our beautiful new book aboard HMS Warrior.

Every child went home with a special gift pack, including a signed copy of the book from our author and illustrator, an activity book, a medal, certificate, balloon, bookmark, pen, pin badge, and a very special crocheted parrot! 🦜

Huge thank you to Jess at Treasured Little Moments for our beautiful bags and thank you to everyone who has already sent in photos and feedback about how much their children enjoyed the event and completing the activity book! We are so glad the children all loved the day and their special gifts.

Another shout out to all our crocheters! The children were beyond DELIGHTED with their crocheted Polly's - they will be treasured ❀️

What an incredibly special day for Aggie's as we celebrated the launch of "Race to the Sailors Rest: A Polly and Hector Adventure", aboard HMS Warrior.

Inspired by the life and legacy of Dame Agnes Weston – "Aggie" to us and "Ma Weston" to generations of sailors – this book has been created to bring families together through the power of storytelling and to ensure her warmth, compassion and spirit continue to inspire future generations.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this day so memorable. To our wonderful author Adam Shackleton, illustrator Jess Dakin and publisher Andy Dakin of the Naval & Military Bible Society, thank you for bringing Polly and Hector's adventure to life with such passion and care.

Thank you to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard for hosting us aboard HMS Warrior, the crew of HMS Victory for supporting our family activities, and the Royal Marines School of Music for the fantastic drumming and giving our service pupils the opportunity to take part.

As well as some of our local Service Pupils and partner charities, we were delighted to welcome our Storybook Waves Audio Editors who make so many of our stories come to life, and Rear Admiral Rose, who spoke about the importance of supporting naval families and the enduring impact of Aggie's work.

As we mark our 150th anniversary, this book launch has given us a truly special memory. We hope Race to the Sailors Rest sparks imagination, creates connections and helps keep Ma Weston's remarkable legacy sailing on for many years to come.

Our next post for is to celebrate our incredible Storybook Waves Volunteer Audio Editors. ✨

You are the magic behind every story, bringing recordings to life with music, sound effects, and those special touches that capture children's imaginations and delight our service families.

The difference you make quietly behind the scenes is immeasurable. By giving your time and talents, you help bring families closer together when distance keeps them apart.

A simple thank you hardly feels enough, but we'll say it anyway...

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! πŸ’™
