On International Dog Day we recognise the heart of our team, the dogs. Within our Operational and Trainee Search Dogs we have an array of breeds and characters.

Our primary role is to provide trained Search & Rescue Dogs to assist in vulnerable missing person searches Day and Night. The many hours spent both deployed and training means our handlers grow deep bonds with the dogs.

Give your dogs an extra cuddle today.

Looking for weekend plans? Come and meet the team today at the incredible Sam's Sunflowers Farm. They are generously supporting us by donating the proceeds from their secateurs hire, which is a huge help to our operational work.

As a team we fund 100% of our equipment and training with donations and fundraising. This means many hours ontop of training and deployments is spent working behind the scenes to keep ready to respond.

Over the past few years the way we're able to deploy has been grately enhanced with the addition of three vehicles named Petra, Ron & Pippa. (We managed to get two vehicles together for a photo. We don't have enough Collies to herd them all to the same place at once!) These assets have been widely used throughout Hampshire and the surrounding counties supporting incidents over the last few years making a real difference.

We're extremely excited to announce the recent grant of ÂŁ17,800 from The National Lottery Community Fund from their fund. This makes up a large part of our project to keep our lifesaving wheels turning. Our project was made possible thanks to players. Thank you.

In a climate where it is harder than ever to raise charity money this funding is extremely important to Hampshire Search and Rescue Dogs and the wider community.

June was definitely a hot month for the HSARDogs Team. But it wasn't just the heat. During the month of June we responded to 16 incidents with 8 of those being over the last weekend alone. A busy period that equals our busiest ever back in 2020 during the Covid year. With the high tempretures our dogs to a back seat on some incidents but we deployed in various roles including Search Manager, Licensed Search Technicians, Search Operations, Water Rescue Technician's and as always Search Dog Handlers & Operational Supports.

We responded to incidents to support Wiltshire Search and Rescue Hampshire Search and Rescue Dorset Search and Rescue & Avon & Somerset Search and Rescue

We are a completely voluntary charity who rely on donations and fundraising to cover the costs of training, equipment and vehicles. Unfortunately this busy period has meant we've had to pull out of a number of events that raise essential funds.

Welcome to the team, CobĂ ! đŸŸ

We are incredibly excited to introduce the newest member of our crew, Trainee Search Dog Cobà.

Cobà began her training journey earlier this year alongside Handler Conor, and they are already showing amazing search skills. Of course, Cobà has the best possible role model to look up to at home, as we have absolutely no doubt that Cobà will be learning a lot from Search Dog Maya!

Join us in wishing CobĂ  and Conor the best of luck with their training. Keep an eye out for more updates on their progress! đŸ¶đŸ§Ą

Following a Tactical Coordinating Group call today with all of the emergency services, our team have been placed on STANDBY for water incidents.

This means we’re at a heightened state of readiness if one of the 999 control rooms needs to deploy our volunteers and boats alongside firefighters, HART paramedics and police officers

With more people heading to the seaside, rivers and lakes, a few simple actions make a huge difference to everyone’s safety:

> Stay back from the edge – cold water shock can hit instantly, even in hot weather; the water is still only 12-15 degrees currently, and will warm up over the summer.

> Supervise children closely – fast‑moving or deep water can catch anyone out.

> Call 999 and ask for Fire & Rescue if you see someone in trouble – don’t enter the water yourself as this often causes multiple casualties.
More info can be found here:
https://www.rlss.org.uk/Pages/Category/water-safety-information

Stay safe, enjoy the weather, and look out for each other.

We’d like to say a big thank you to the local residents in who have been offering our volunteers snacks and cold drinks!

The search continues, with Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire, Severn Area Rescue Association and Hampshire Search and Rescue Dogs boosting numbers
