Thanks to our speakers, members and guests for coming along to our General Speaker Meeting on Wednesday evening this week.

We heard from Steve Cox, Alan Boswell Group, on the ever important topic of insurance, and Paige Brown from Plymouth Area Property Professionals Association - PAPPA, who gave us a jam-packed presentation on how the industry and its landlords are now operating with the Renters Rights Act in full force.

Currys Business gave us a quick run-down of their landlord discounts and services on offer and one lucky member won their raffle!

Also thank you to Boringdon Park Golf Club for providing a great service for our first meeting held at this venue.

We're very excited to welcome a new speaker to SWLA meetings, Paige Brown, Vice-Chair of Plymouth Area Property Professionals Association - PAPPA.

Paige is a local property & lettings expert with many years' experience across lettings, legislation and compliance. She is especially knowledgeable regarding all things HMO compliance and lettings.

Plymouth Area Property Professionals Association - PAPPA is a long-standing association whose members are local professional, independent, property market experts within Plymouth and the surrounding areas.

This public consultation seeks views on how to apply Awaab's Law to private rented tenancies. It also seeks views on if and how to apply Awaab's Law to accommodation occupied under licence in both the private rented and social rented sectors.

Everyone deserves to live in a home that is decent, safe and secure. Awaab’s Law, which was introduced in the landmark Social Housing Regulation Act 2023, requires landlords to investigate and fix reported health hazards within specified timeframes. The primary purpose of this consultation is to set those timeframes.

We encourage all private landlords and letting agents to respond. Any sections which are not relevant to you can be skipped.
