We would like to take the opportunity this to share our love and support to everyone in the LGBTQ+ community. 🏳️‍🌈

Pride is not only a time to celebrate, it's a time to reflect on history and continue to fight for equality and against discrimination.

We are incredibly proud to be an inclusive music charity where we ensure that those from the LGBTQ+ community are welcome and supported through our work.

We accompanied our Sing Out participant Paddy at the Southway Community Hub and Cafe's Fun Day over the weekend!

Paddy, with his wife Cathy, attend both Sing Out at PMZ and the Timebank Glee Club at the Southway Community Hub - they just love to sing!

One of Sing Out's favourite song is 'Cousin Jack' and Paddy had the opportunity to perform it at the Southway Fun Day event, with a little backing from PMZ Music Leader Josie. Paddy performed brilliantly and got the whole room joining in for the powerful chorus.

Congratulations to the Southway Community Hub and Cafe team for organising such a successful event, and letting us be a little part of it.

Our Sing Out group had a wonderful treat this week as the Musical Theatre Group - Plymouth University came to visit PMZ and sing some songs with us!

The Musical Theatre Group raised money for PMZ at their winter 'Through the Decades Showcase' last year and it was brilliant to finally meet some of the group and show them what PMZ is all about!

We introduced a few of our favourite songs to the group but a standout was singing 'Any Dream Will Do' together - the backing vocals never sounded so good!

We hope that we will get to work with this very talented bunch again in the future and we want to say a big thank you to MTG for supporting our work, it means a great deal to every one of us.

We want to say a big thank you to everyone who took part or donated to the Golf Day Fundraiser at Yelverton Golf Club! You really raised the par!

It was sunny, and windy day, where 14 teams of 4 players took played the course, and there was an array of prizes won! Congratulations to the winning team 'Hoys and Woods'.

Money raised came from team entries, raffle receipts, donations from PMZ supporters, hole sponsorship and support from BMW Ocean.

We're really grateful to everyone involved, especially our trustee Liz Hill for organising such a tee-rific and successful fundraising event. All the proceeds will support us to continue working with all of our wonderful participants.

We'd love to share this incredible fundraiser by Richard Brocklesby in aid of Parkinson's UK. Richard will be circumnavigating the UK by boat, to raise awareness and funds to support those living with Parkinson’s. Richard will be starting his journey from Plymouth on Saturday 9th May!

Several of our Sing Out participants are living with Parkinson's so we know firsthand how vital the best healthcare and support can be.

We are in awe of the challenge that Richard is taking on, and we really want to see the fundraiser be a huge success. To donate, or find out more, follow this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/sailUK-for-parkinsonsUK

Good luck Richard!

A little while ago, at a Plymouth Culture event, PMZ's Karl caught up with poet, David Woolley, who previously worked with PMZ a few years back on 'City of Water'.

David Woolley wrote the poem 'City of Water' for our Waterways project set to music composed by the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and was first performed at the Devonport Guildhall in 2015.

After having a good catch up with Karl, David kindly sent us a copy of the handprinted book version of the poem. It's amazing to see David's wonderful words printed, and we look back on this project fondly.

🎉We have some awesome funding news to share!🎉

We're thrilled to announce that Plymouth Music Zone has been awarded a major grant from the Livewell Foundation.

This funding will support two of our sessions; 'Sing Out' which is a friendly singing group for adults with brain injury or neurological conditions such as stroke and multiple sclerosis, and for people living with Parkinson's; and 'Moving Sounds', an accessible, fun and creative music and movement group for adults (18+) who create pieces of music, videos, and performances.

Thank you so much to Livewell Foundation for supporting our work; we are incredibly grateful to receive this funding. Everyone here at PMZ is proud to be one of ten organisations receiving funding to do vital work across Plymouth and South West Devon.

We had a wonderful time yesterday welcoming Friends and Families to PMZ to make music and have lots of fun together!

It was great to meet new people and explore a range of songs and sounds together - we especially loved how much energy everyone brought to the session, it made it one to remember!

Thank you to everyone who came along, we really hope you all enjoyed trying out lots of different instruments!

We're looking forward to working with Friends and Families again in the future!
