Seasonal Equine & Facilities Assistant

Omagh Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) is looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking person to join our team on a part-time, seasonal, self-employed basis.

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day care of our horses and ponies and helping to keep our facilities, yard and grounds safe and well maintained.

Key responsibilities include:

🐴 Mucking out, preparing feeds and general horse/yard duties
🚜 Driving a tractor and safely operating farm and yard machinery
🔨 General maintenance and repairs, including fencing and gates
🧹 Cleaning stables, toilets and shared facilities
🌿 Maintaining the yard, buildings and grounds
👀 Spotting jobs that need done and taking the initiative to tackle them

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is confident and experienced around horses
• Has experience driving a tractor and operating farm/yard machinery and holds a valid tractor licence
• Has good practical and general maintenance skills
• Is reliable, hardworking and able to work independently
• Is willing to undertake the appropriate AccessNI check

📍 Location: Omagh RDA
⏰ Hours: Part-time – 16 hours per week
💼 Basis: Self-employed
💷 Rate: £15 hr

At Omagh RDA, this role plays an important part in keeping everything behind the scenes running smoothly so we can continue providing opportunities for children and adults with disabilities through horses and riding.

Tablet/ iPad Appeal

Can You Help Omagh RDA? 🐴

We’re wondering if anyone has a tablet they no longer use that they would be willing to donate to Omagh RDA.

We’re introducing a new digital system to help us manage participant information and record progress during our sessions, and a working tablet would be a huge help.
It doesn’t need to be the newest model just in good working order, able to connect to Wi-Fi and ideally with a charger.

If you have one gathering dust that could be put to good use, please send us a private message.

🏆 So Well Deserved, Gwen! 🏆

We are absolutely delighted to celebrate our wonderful Gwen, who has been recognised with the Good Relations Volunteer of the Year Award! 💜🐴

Anyone who knows Omagh RDA will know just how much Gwen gives to our riders, our horses and our whole RDA family. Her kindness, commitment and willingness to help are incredible, and she is one of those special people who quietly gives so much of her time to make a difference to others.

This award is so thoroughly deserved, and we couldn't be prouder to see Gwen's contribution recognised. 🌟

Gwen is pictured with AJ at our recent dressage competition, just one example of the many ways she gets involved and supports everything we do. 🐴💕

Some horses are talented.

Some horses are kind.

Every once in a while, you’re lucky enough to find one that’s both.

Clover is that horse. ❤️🍀

This weekend she carried me to two RDA National Championship titles—Open Grade 6 Walk & Trot and Grade 6 Freestyle.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’ll happily wear the sash… but deep down I know it doesn’t really belong to me. It belongs to her. Anyone who knows us knows exactly who the real champion is.

Beltrim Sweet Clover has spent her whole life looking after people. Long before she became mine, she’d already changed lives through RDA, giving riders confidence, independence and memories they’ll never forget.

Then somehow… I got lucky enough to call her mine.

She’s carried me through diagnoses, tears, laughter, self-doubt and some of the proudest moments of my life. There have been days when my body has given up long before she ever has, but she never questions me. She just keeps showing up.

People see a horse winning ribbons.

I see my best pal.

Every ribbon, every score and every championship belongs to her just as much as me because without her, I wouldn’t have the life I have today. I wouldn’t have this platform, the opportunities, or the privilege of advocating for disabled riders. She changed my life in ways she’ll never understand.

Clover, thank you.

For every lesson.
For every ribbon.
For every time you carried me when life felt heavier than any saddle ever could.

You’re so much more than a National Champion.

You’re my once-in-a-lifetime horse, my best pal, and the reason I’m still chasing dreams I was once told I’d never achieve.

I will spend the rest of your life making sure you know just how loved and appreciated you are.

🐴✨ No rest for our amazing volunteers!

Fresh off the back of the Hartpury National Championships, our horses are enjoying a well-deserved holiday... but that just means it's all hands on deck for a good clean up at Omagh RDA!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to help get the place looking amazing. Sorry we didn't manage to grab a photo of everyone who pitched in - but know that every bit of help is so appreciated. 💙

Our volunteers really are the backbone of everything we do. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🙌

🌟 Meet the Team – UK National Championships 🌟

And last but certainly not least is Oscar (aka Bob)! 🖤🤍🐴

This striking 15.1hh piebald is making his very first trip to Hartpury for the UK National Championships, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him as part of Team Omagh.

Oscar—fondly known as Bob—has been a fantastic partner throughout the season. With his eye-catching looks, willing attitude, and calm presence, he’s been a steady and reliable mount for his rider and a much-loved member of the team.

This will be a big new experience for him, but we know he’ll take it all in his stride and rise to the occasion at Hartpury.

Good luck, Oscar (Bob)! Enjoy every moment of your first championships—we’re so proud of you! 🍀💙
