The operational crew carry lots of crucial kit when on board the Air Ambulance. 🚁🩺One piece of essential equipment for the HEMS team is their aviation helmets which play an important role for both safety and communication while flying. ⛑ A costly bit of kit with each helmet costing over £2,000 but they offer necessary head, face and hearing protection. They're also fitted with a microphone and earpiece that allow the crew to communicate while flying to and from an incident scene.
