In Feb 2025, Rachel-Ann came to TAPE with an idea for short film.

We joked in our first chat about how, if we managed to make the film, we could enter it into the Iris Prize. Yesterday, Rachel-Ann, her family and I attended the screening of her short as part of this year's Iris Prize.

Her film has screened in cinemas all over the UK to tens of thousands of people, she has delivered speeches and Q&As in a number of film festivals and events and will soon be making a short film in partnership with the Rosie Jones Foundation.

The significant opportunities this 6min short has created for the 50+ people who gave their time and energy to it, as well as for Rachel-Ann, loudly speak to just what can happen if you take someone's idea seriously, get out of your own way and open the doors of collaboration as widely as possible.

Mae Martha yn anabl. Mae hi’n hoyw.

Ac mae hi wedi cael digon ar gael ei hanwybyddu, yn enwedig yn Pride. Pan mae digwyddiad yn anhygyrch, mae hi a’i chymuned yn gwrthryfela, gan droi gwaharddiad yn gysylltiad.

Rhan o gasgliad o ffilmiau pwerus gan bobl sydd â pharlys yr ymennydd a ddarlledwyd ar Am i nodi Diwrnod Parlys yr Ymennydd Byd-Eang 2026, mewn partneriaeth â TAPE Community Music and Film.

Martha’s disabled. She’s a le***an.

And she’s done being overlooked, especially at Pride. When an event proves inaccessible, she and her community roll into rebellion, turning exclusion into connection.
