There are only a few days left to have your say on the annual Pay and Morale Survey.

It gives North Wales Police Federation members the chance to have their say on pay, wellbeing and the challenges of policing.

The survey also provides valuable insight into the experiences of rank-and-file officers and helps build the evidence base that the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) uses to campaign on issues including pay, working conditions, wellbeing and retention.

The survey will provide members with an opportunity to make their views on the pay award heard, as well as to highlight the wider issues in policing.

🏅 FED MEMBER'S SURPRISE AT RECEIVING KPM

A North Wales Police officer who initially dismissed a phone call from the Home Office as a scam has been awarded the King’s Police Medal (KPM).

PC Heidi Goldsack (pictured) has been recognised for her for services to policing and the football community in the King’s Birthday Honours.

It celebrates her two decades of service and her contribution to football policing in North Wales and the UK.

Heidi said she was initially told about the award while she was policing a Championship fixture between Wrexham and Stoke.

She said: “I was in the middle of dealing with some supporters when my phone rang.

“I was thinking it’s going to be the British Transport Police saying there’s some risk coming on the train, or something like that, but it was someone from the Home Office saying they’ve got some exciting news.

“I thought it was clearly a scam. I work with the Home Office all the time, they’ve got my email address to contact me, and I couldn’t imagine them working on a Saturday afternoon ringing round people."

🕯️ FEDERATION STANDS WITH PC ANDREW HARPER'S FAMILY AND COLLEAGUES

North Wales Police Federation has changed its social media profile picture to an image of PC Andrew Harper as a mark of solidarity with his family, friends and colleagues.

It follows the news that two men convicted of the manslaughter of PC Harper are set to be released early from prison under new sentencing rules.

PC Harper, who was 28, died after getting caught in a strap and being dragged for a mile behind a car when he tried to stop a group towing away a stolen quad bike in Berkshire in August 2019.

Jessie Cole and Albert Bowers were passengers in the car and both 17 at the time. They were given a 13-year prison sentence for manslaughter but might be eligible to be released from prison halfway through their sentences.

The news has prompted a strong reaction from the policing family, with many officers expressing their anger and frustration.

The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) has repeatedly raised concerns with the Government about the inclusion of violent offenders who target police officers in early release schemes.

🕯️ Andrew made the ultimate sacrifice protecting the public. We remember him.
