🔧✨ Oban Festive Lights 2026 – We Need Your Ideas! ✨🔧

Next month our volunteers will be carrying out the annual maintenance of the Oban Festive Lights display, making sure everything is ready to light up the town once again this winter.

As many of you will have noticed, some of our wall-hanging lights have seen better days after years of battling the West Coast weather! 🌧️💨 We will be looking at ordering replacement displays and would love to hear from the people who enjoy them most – YOU!

We hoped for enjoyed your bank holiday weekend but with temperatures set to rise over the next few days, please remember to take care of yourselves and others in our community.

🧴 Wear sunscreen and light clothing 👵 Check in on elderly neighbours, friends and relatives
🐶 Don’t forget pets also need plenty of water and a cool place to rest

For generations, the Christmas lights switch-on has brought our community together, lighting up dark winter nights with music, parades, laughter and memories. From packed crowds in Station Square to Santa arriving with the pipe band, the tradition has become part of Oban’s history and identity

While Oban enjoys the sunshine and looks forward to summer holidays, our Festive Lights Team is busy behind the scenes making sure this year’s Christmas display is ready to glow.

We’re reaching out for volunteers, creative ideas, and fundraising help to keep the tradition alive.

Most people don’t realise the council doesn’t put the lights up — it’s our community who fund the upkeep, and local volunteers who install them with pride.
