A partial solar eclipse will occur in Nottingham on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The event begins at 6:14 pm, reaches a maximum coverage of about 92% at 7:10 pm, and ends at 8:04 pm.

Never look directly at the partial solar eclipse without certified ISO 12312-2 solar viewing glasses. Standard sunglasses do not protect your eyes.

📚 Could your child’s school win £1,000/€1,000 for new books?

With our friends at Read for Good, we’re on a mission to – and you can help! 💙

Nominate a school at the link below to put them in with a chance of winning £1,000/€1,000 in National Book Tokens to refresh their library 📖✨

Even better? If your nomination is chosen, YOU could win a £100/€120 National Book Token to spend in your favourite bookshop!

And that's not all. To celebrate the UK's National Year of Reading, we'll pick a flash winner every week until 24th June to receive £100/€100 for their nominated school, and £25/€30 for themselves. That's even more books in the libraries of schools across the UK and Ireland. 🎉

Why it matters:
💡 Reading for pleasure boosts wellbeing, confidence and academic success
📉 But only 1 in 3 children say they enjoy reading in their free time
📚 Many school libraries need new and inspiring books to engage today’s readers

Let’s give every child access to books they’ll love. ❤️

👉 Nominate your school today and spread the word – the more nominations, the better their chances!
