📣 REGIONAL QUALIFIER UPDATE 📣

The sun was shining down on our ponies, participants and volunteers today as they headed to the Scottish National Equestrian Centre in Livingston for the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) regional qualifiers.

Coaches; Nicky, Jackie, Caroline, Fiona, Jo, Lucy and Sarah packed and loaded all our wonderful ponies at 7am this morning and made their way to SNEC.

Volunteers; Mandy, Jenny, Jimmy, Carron, Isla, Finlay, Iain, Mia and all our wonderful parents and carers took care of the mounting, water running and side walking.

Ponies; Beeby, Harry, Gifford, Raiden and Charity (and Domino) took the day all in their stride, enjoying some extra snacks at the other end!

Our fabulous ponies are getting themselves ready for the annual outing to the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) regional qualifiers tomorrow at the !

Our coaching team, Caroline, Jo, Fiona, Lucy and Joyce along with volunteers Claire, Mandy, Fiona, Kirsten, Erika, Elly, Megan and Anna bathed the ponies, scrubbed the tack, filled the hay nets and helped put the final touches to the arts and crafts!

Jess 🐶 helped double check the kit!

The cars are packed, the ponies are clean and we are super excited to see our 16 participants compete against other centres in the Edinburgh and Borders region, hoping for a chance to get to the in July!

Help us cheer on Beeby, Charity, Gifford, Raiden and Harry- who also celebrates his birthday 🎂 🎁 today!

We had a very busy (and hot!) Bank Holiday Monday at MRT. Huge thanks to Jen Roy The Springfield Saddler who came to visit our herd and give them all a full bit and bridle review. Here are Quincy and Louis standing so patiently as Jen did her job.

🎉 Please Vote for Us! 🎉

As many of you know, Muirfield Riding Therapy provides life-changing equine therapy for individuals across East Lothian and beyond. We are one of only a small number of RDA groups in the UK able to offer this service completely free of charge to all participants.

To continue our work, we rely entirely on fundraising — and every penny truly makes a difference.

Please take just 2 minutes to nominate us using the link below. Your nomination could help us secure a £5,000 donation to support our charity and the people who benefit from our sessions every week.

Thank you so much for your support! ❤️

Record breaking Open Garden! We are absolutely delighted to hear that the recent Scotland's Gardens Scheme Open Garden event, Tyninghame House & The Walled Garden, was a magnificent success with the most visitors they’ve ever had in their 36 year history of opening the gardens!

Tyninghame is a spectacular setting, and we were deeply grateful that the owners chose to support our charity through this event.

This generous contribution of £5,930.45 will directly support our mission to provide free equine assisted therapy to children and adults with disabilities across our region. Funding of this scale ensures we can maintain our specially trained ponies, provide essential equipment, and keep our sessions accessible to those who benefit most from the physical and emotional therapy we offer.

The event, and the kindness of everyone who attended, makes a profound difference to our participants' lives.

💚 Special thanks to our volunteer catering team who put in a huge effort baking and serving this many visitors - incredible! 💚

Alison and Lis from Tyninghame House said,

“We owe Muirfield Riding Therapy a huge thank you for providing the teas on Sunday and for all your promoting of the event beforehand. We welcomed 800 adults plus children through the gates, double the numbers we’d normally expect, and the most we’ve ever had in the 36 years since Tyninghame Gardens Ltd and Mrs Gwyn took over the opening of the gardens! Very many thanks to your amazing team for coping with the remarkable numbers of people. They did a fantastic job and the baking was legendary!

The Garden Open Day raised an incredible £9,884.09 with 60% of proceeds to MRT and 40% to Scotland’s Gardens Scheme which goes towards their own core beneficiary charities (currently Maggie’s, Perennial and the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland), as well as occasional guest charities and grant recipients.”

If you were a visitor, please share any photos, we forgot to take many of the gardens, we were too busy!!
