Forth Marine Hatchery

Forth Marine Hatchery Restoring Native Oysters and European Lobsters back into the firth of forth.

We are working towards the long term sustainability of the European Lobster by rearing lobsters from eggs to around 12 weeks old, helping them at their most vulnerable stage of life. The juvenile lobsters are then released back into the Firth of Forth where they will contribute to lobster stocks for the long term economic benefits of fishermen and local businesses. It takes a lobster anywhere from

5 years upwards to grow to a mature enough size to legally land. The Firth of Forth Lobster Hatchery aims to increase stock, therefore allowing more lobsters to make it to this stage as young lobsters are very vulnerable to prey.
