πŸͺ‘So exciting to visit Clockhouse Furniture to see the prototype of the Leuchie chair! In consultation with our care team and carers of guests who come to Leuchie, the designers at Clockhouse have thoughtfully considered their ideas to create a chair that represents comfort, sanctuary, and a moment of pause for those with caring responsibilities.

High arms and back will wrap the body to make it feel cocooned and supported, a sprung padded seat will make the cushion soft and inviting and padded arms will give tired muscles a well deserved rest. It is intentionally not a chair to curl up and sleep in though. Carers only get moments to rest during the day and need to be alert to the needs of their loved ones, so the front of the arms have a thoughtful detail at the top that allows someone to rise quickly. A flat seat will ensure an upright posture to help the body recover from stress.

This chair helps to tell part of the story of the reality of caring and we're looking forward to seeing it out in real world.

πŸ‘A huge thank you once again to the Clockhouse team for giving their time to creatively raise awareness of Leuchie’s work, and for donating a percentage of sales to support people living with neurological conditions and their families.

πŸ‘ Congratulations to Senior Care and Quality Practitioner, Jim, who is celebrating 20 years with Leuchie today!

Jim says: "I love everything about Leuchie, it's such a unique place. I think my highlight over the last twenty years has been working my way up. From carer to a senior carer and now to Senior Care and Quality Practitioner, where I now deliver training to new starts. I'm really proud of that."

πŸ’š Thank you, Jim for providing 20 years of excellent care and laughs. All of our guests, old and new will agree that you are a wonderful carer and you have such a strong bond with the guests.

πŸ“Ή Check out this video in the dining room earlier where guests and the Leuchie team came together to celebrate Jim's contribution to Leuchie over the last 20 years. Plus hear from Jim about some of his highlights, and why he loves working at Leuchie.

πŸ’š Reenabling independence at mealtimes

On his stay to Leuchie, Luke, was introduced to the Obi eater that we have here at Leuchie.

πŸ“Ή In this video, Luke sits down with Leigh, our Occupational Therapist, to discuss the positive impact the Obi has had on his eating. Having previously used the Neater Eater, he explains how the Obi offers him greater control and can handle a wider range of foods. This included enjoying a bowl of cereal independently for the first time in four years.
